In Loving Memory Of

Philip Aucoin

Philip Brian Aucoin, resident of La Glace, AB, formerly of Brighton, ON, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Points West Hospice, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 54 years.

Phil was born in Yarmouth, NS, but traveled from base to base with his military family. Phil finally settled in Trenton, ON where he met his wife of 25 years. For over 20 years, Phil worked as a curbside recycling driver, and then moved his family to Grande Prairie, AB to work in the Oil and Gas industry.

Phil always said he never made a good first impression, but always made a lasting one.

Although Phil loved his job, his real passion was hockey and football which he instilled in all 4 of our boys. Phil was known for his huge booming laugh, and a sense of humor. When Phil walked into a room, everyone knew he was there.

Phil coached all his boys in hockey and baseball. At one point, he had his own cheerleading squad who would show up at every game to cheer him on, and not his team.

Phil loved his family football and backyard hockey games, bonfires with friends and family (dunk tank always included), anything that involved people. From pig roasts, winter horse shoes and baking. Yes, baking. No one could beat Phil’s homemade bread and tarts.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Lisa (Jones) Aucoin, sons: David Aucoin, Steven Jones, Adam Garner, and Don Garner; nieces: Michelle Schul (Duffley) of Edmonton and Samantha Jones Potts of Trenton; nephew Michael Potts of Trenton; grandchildren: Connor Brian,
Adalyn Lisa and Paisley Ann; his father Clarance Aucoin, sister Linda (Aucoin) Duffley of Nova Scotia; multiple sisters and brothers in-law from all over the country, as well as many more.

Phil was predeceased by his mother Germaine Aucoin, and two children: Rebecca and Steven Paul Aucoin.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 3:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion #54 in Grande Prairie (9912 101 Ave).

Memorial donations may be made to Brighton Minor Hockey Association (King Edward Park, Brighten, ON, K0K 1H0) for all kids who want to play but can’t afford to. It’s all about playing the game.
