In Loving Memory Of

Wayne Stephen Sawchuk

September 30, 1954 - July 8, 2011

Wayne Stephen Sawchuk, youngest son of Steve F. and Jean Sawchuk, formerly of Weasel Creek and longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed into God’s presence at home on July 8, 2011 at the age of 56 years. He was surrounded by family. Wayne was a gentle, soft spoken man with a disarming and engaging sense of humor. He was conscientious, diligent and industrious. He dedicated his occupational life to tile setting. As such, he mastered the art of the trade, mentored many and was well regarded as one of the best in his field. A loving father, he also mentored his three sons who now continue in the trade that he loved. Wayne was an avid amateur gardener and took great pride in being a “good steward of the earth”. He loved to share the fruits of his labor with anyone willing to receive. Wayne was also an enthusiastic home renovator, most proud of the home renovation that he was able to work on with his three sons. Wayne’s endearing presence, his humble and gentle spirit blessed those who had the privilege and honor of knowing him. Greatly grieved and mourning this immeasurable loss are his wife Leslie; his three sons Nathan (Donna), Jarrett (Claire), and Adam; and his precious grandsons Kelly and Oakley. Wayne is survived by his mother; oldest brother; and will be most indelibly missed by his loving sister. Terryl Morgan considered Wayne as a father and will always hold him in her heart. There are too many extended family members to mention, but he loved and was loved by all. Wayne was predeceased by his brother Lawrence. The memorial service to honor Wayne’s life will be held at Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel Tea Room on July 13, 2011 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Prayers will take place at 7:45pm. A private family service and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made “In Memory of Wayne Sawchuk” to the City of Grande Prairie
