In Loving Memory Of

Loren Gregory Melnyk

June 3, 1964 - September 29, 2011

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our loving husband and father, Loren Gregory Melnyk. Loren passed away at the QEII Hospital with his family at his side. He will be deeply missed by his wife Mary and daughters Mary and Katrina; brother Randy (Lynne Hook); mother and father in-law John and Mary Vavrek; sister and brother in-laws Barb and Larry Gaultier, Vince and Tracey Vavrek, Tom and Noreen Vavrek, John and Karen Vavrek, Rob and Nadine Vavrek, Cathy and Geoff Kent, and numerous nieces and nephews. Loren was predeceased by his father Orist; mother Marie; sister Cynthia and brother in-law Dale Fleming. Loren was born in Spirit River Hospital and grew up on the family farm in the Wanham area. He moved to Grande Prairie where he met his wife Mary and had two wonderful daughters, Mary and Katrina. Loren will always be remembered as a loving husband and father. He was a loyal friend, caring, compassionate and fair. Loren could see the humor in anything and always made us laugh. He will be deeply missed. Prayer service will be held at Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

It is with saddness that we hear of Loren's passing. We wish that we could be there, but you are all in our thoughts during this difficult time, and hope that there are sunny days ahead. Bill, Barb, Daniella, Thomas, and Elizabeth Beiersdorfer

Dear Mary,Mary and Katrina: Please know you have been in my thoughts and prayers over the past few months and especially the past few days. There is nothing I can say that will ease the pain or answer unanswerable questions. Draw on the strength and support of your family and friends and rely on them. They love you deeply. Love Mary Jean.
