In Loving Memory Of

Emily Omilon

November 21, 1933 - February 6, 2012

It is with great sorrow that the family of Emily announce her passing on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the age of 78 years. Emily moved to Grande Prairie in 1961 and was instrumental in developing the junior girls golf program at the Grande Prairie Golf Club. Emily also shot her one and only hole-in-one at this course and in fact was the first female to do so at that location. Emily enjoyed curling and golfing and was very sad when health problems required her to stop, however she was able to still feel involved in golf by working at the Wee Links Pitch and Putt for many years. Many of her friends and family remember the annual golf tournaments hosted by her and her husband, Bob, at this course and at their house after. In 1980, Emily married the love of her life, Bob, and they enjoyed 27 very happy years, gardening, hunting and visiting with friends. Life was not the same for Emily after Bob passed in 2007. Emily is survived by her grieving daughters: Cheryl (Alan), and Michelle (Lance), and her husband's loving children: Kevin (Robyn) and Candace (Phillip). She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Brad, Melissa, Dallas, Courtney, Colby, Michael, Sean, Anastasia, Hannah, Esther, Alex, Shayna and Wade and three great-grandchildren. Emily is also survived by a brother, Fred and three sisters: Helen, Lucy and Marlene and many friends. Emily's family would like to thank the following people for all of their help especially since Bob's passing - Rod and Barb, Cam and Cathy, Gord and Hazel, Mark and Judy, and Sharon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00am at Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel. Rest in peace Mom (Baba). We know you are finally happy in the loving arms of your husband.

I worked with Emily at the Wee Links when I moved back from Vancouver. She was a treat to work with every day! I loved her smile and her sharp wit. She will be missed.
