Jane certainly put Spirit River on the map for many musicians with her teaching and several band exchanges through S.E.V.E.C. She was a wonderful and talented person whose gift for music enriched us all. Condolences to her family from the South Grenville community and all families who hosted band members in 2005. We were so fortunate to have participated in her vision for sharing.

We send our sympathy to Jane's family. Jane was a talented musician and was closely connected to our family in her youth. She agreed to sing at our wedding 39 years ago, when the church started accept guitars and drums in their folk masses. I'll never forget how beautifully she performed Ian and Sylvia's tune "Lovin' Sound" for us that day. We lost touch over the years, but she returned to Carleton Place, Ontario with her Spirit River band a number of years ago. We were so happy to see her again in her new role as band director. It was quite an honour to have her recognize my father, Mr. Hofmann ( her former high school music teacher) in the audience. It was another touching moment that we won't forget. Jane had that wonderful quality of touching people with her warmth, her quick laugh and her love of music. Our condolences. Lucy and Neil Carleton

We wish to extend our sympathy and prayers to Jane's family. Having attended the same high school (South Grenville District High School, Prescott, Ontario) we had the opportunity to know Jane and to spend much time with her "musically" as we were involved in the various bands of which Jane was also a part. Together, we had the privilege to travel to Germany in our senior year with the bands. Jane was a beautiful young lady with a lovely smile - she even played the organ at our wedding in August of 1976! Rest in peace Jane! Your memories are treasured...

My sympathy to Jane's family on their loss. Jane was a good friend to our family. We shared many happy musical experiences together - the band trip to Florida, making music in Montreal, and childhood memories growing up in Prescott. She was Walter's favourite vocalist in the dance band and he could always depend on Jane to perform at her best. Most of all I will remember her happy spirit and pretty smile. My condolences. Elisabeth Hofmann

*Deeply saddened to learn of Jane's passing via my brother recently. Recalling a beautiful (inside & out), cheerful young lady, who enthusiastically also participated,(as a bridesmaid at my July 1982 wedding day! Soon after, Jane's career & new life journeys took her much too far from our ever welcoming doorsteps!..*We just never know what life has in store for each of us!*...Regardless, that university student we had the pleasure to know & me look up to as well!!...(even way back when)... is remembered affectionately... Jane was a compassionate, gracious, down to earth, studious / driven / vibrant/gifted young musician & for us, a special family friend. Until our paths cross again...RIP Ms Jane oxo Gianna & family

I am at a loss of words. Jane was not only a great, talented musician but a true human being. One of the nicest people on the planet that I had the fortune to know. She was a very positive, encouraging, dedicated individual. Her smile was always a joy. She will be sincere condolences to her family...

I am so sad to hear the news about Jane. Our family shared many musical experiences in the Prescott area. Jane and I took piano lessons at St. Marks convent in Prescott, we participated in countless Brockville music festivals and she accompanied me on piano for my euphonium solo piecies. Jane had a gift for music and easily transmitted her love of it to others. It was Jane who inspired me to study music at McGill and helped me to get to know Montreal. She was such a pleasant person and her lovely smile will be deeply missed.
