John Clifford (Oats) Cardinal passed away at the QEII hospital in Grande Prairie, Alberta on Tuesday, July24, 2012, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his common-law partner of 32 years, Donna Jacklin, her three children: Janine (Terry) Spry, Shawn (Yvonne) Jacklin, Gary (Allison) Jacklin; six grandchildren, Cody (Amber) & Lance Spry, Kayla, Triston & Tia Jacklin, Dolan Jacklin; special grand-niece Jayden Benson & grand-nephew Cache Benson; his mother Mary Jane Cardinal, his brothers, David (Patricia) & Lawrence Cardinal; and two sisters Doreen (David) Batchelor & Karen (Boxer) Cardinal; his nephew Randy (Carol) Cardinal and their children: Randall, Kaylee, & Carly; his in-laws the Benson Family & Rita Cardinal, several nieces, nephews, family and friends, too numerous to mention. John was predeceased by his father Jean Marie Cardinal, his eldest brother Raymond and four sisters: Marlene, Aileen, Joyce, & Lorna. The family of John Cardinal would like to send a special thank you to the staff of palliative care at the QEII as well as the Dr. Strehlke & staff at the cancer clinic. A special thanks to Grande Prairie Home Care, your hard work, care & attention is greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank Earl Parenteau, Jimmy Gauthier & Jack Macinaw for keeping John’s spirits & beliefs alive. Thank you to all friends & family for your love & support. A celebration of John’s life will be held at Clarkson Hall at Evergreen Park on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 1:00pm. A luncheon will be served following the service.
