Eva Driedger

April 26, 1921 - August 2, 2012


Eva Driedger (nee Schellenberg), born April 26, 1921 enjoyed life till August 2, 2012. Her parents were Peter and Catherine (nee Hamm) Schellenberg of Gretna, Manitoba. They moved to Gouldtown, Saskatchewan, and Catherine died of tuberculosis when Eva was just four years old. She and her older brother lived with the Hamm grandparents until her Dad re-married. She has a brother Arthur. Eva married Thomas Driedger July 14, 1944 and they have two children Ronald (Erika) of Beaverlodge and Arlene (Douglas) Dickau of Cochrane, AB. They enjoyed a life of farming in Saskatchewan, Ft. McLeod, Beiseker, Sexsmith, and Beaverlodge. Eva loved sewing for her family and community. She loved baking chiffon cake, butter tarts, brown bread and buns. She loved giving gifts of cookies. She also made plumi mousse and shinka fleish. She served the church with organizing the music schedule and social convener, and taught Sunday school. She painted houses for Penner Construction in Beaverlodge along with O’Linda Penner. She grew great vegetable gardens each year and did plenty of canning for the winter. Eva and Tom enjoyed travelling to Florida, Norway, Sweden, Riveria Cruise, Disneyland, and many family weddings and reunions. She has three grandchildren Karen (Robert) Lundberg of Calgary, Sharlotte (Darcy) Neufeld of Shamrock, SK, and Philip (Kimberley) Dickau of Calgary and six great grandchildren Gillian, Jesse, Chet, Samantha, Ben, and Reese. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas (August 2, 2006), four brothers: Jacob, Peter, Henry and Abram. Her life verse was Psalm 16:11, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverlodge Alliance Church with interment in Herbert, Saskatchewan at a later date.
