In Loving Memory Of

William "Bill" Wawreniuk

September 28, 1937 - August 25, 2012

Bill Wawreniuk, longtime resident of the Devale, Alberta area, passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the age of 74 years. Bill was born on September 28, 1937 at Ksituan, Alberta, the youngest of six children to Peter & Dora Wawreniuk. It was there that he grew up and attended Yellowcreek School by horse. However, he had a habit of going the opposite direction to work in the neighbor’s fields for pennies to buy cigarettes. He worked at a young age at numerous jobs, working on the Dunvegan Bridge, building roads at Moonshine Lake, running cats at Keg River, and then he took over the family farm. He married young and raised 4 daughters, but if you asked him, he would have to told you, “4 boys with skirts on”. Bill was quite a handyman, able to wire, weld, build and haywire whatever was needed. He was also a talented musician and could play the harmonica, accordion, and his all-time favorite

We will really miss listening to Bill play his guitar on Fridays at the Pleasant View Lodge. He will be missed, and remembered fondly. God bless you.
