Jacqueline (Jackie), passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie on August 28, 2012, at the age of 44 years. She was born on January 15, 1968 at the Spirit River Hospital. Jackie attended the University of Alberta, where she got her teaching degree. Then she worked at the after school care in Edmonton for one year before going to teach at Grovedale Penson School for 10 years. After this she started her family and when her children were older, she went back to substituting for Peace Wapiti School Division until she passed away. She is also survived by her mother Theresa Zajac, brothers Ron and Jason; mother in-law Stella Federuik, brother in-law Jerry and wife Cheryl and her many friends. She was predeceased by her father Joe S. Zajac, uncle John Zan, uncle Ben Kramer, father in-law John Federuik and brother in-law Gordon Federuik. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 7:00-9:00pm at Christian Fellowship Assembly in Grande Prairie. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11:00am with viewing prior to service at 10:30am at Christian Fellowship Assembly (11449 92 Street Grande Prairie). A very special thank you to the doctors and staff in the ICU at QEII Hospital for all your care and compassion. Don, Jadon, Aaron and Riley Sorry to hear of Jackie's passing. There are no words to ease your pain and sorrow at this time. Please know that we all share that hurt with you. Jackie was a beautiful person inside and out, full of life and energy. God has brought her home with him for reasons unknown. Cherish your memories and hold them close to your heart. We are very sorry for your loss. Jackie was an amazing person and will be missed greatly. The pride she showed for her family was seen everyday while she was teaching. You were never far from her mind. All our kids had the honor of having Jackie teach them. Each day Jackie would be at school our kids would come home withH stories to tell about Don, her boys or chuckwagon racing. Always remember she loved you tons. We will remember her always.

Continued… Jackie was a beautiful human being in good times and in struggle. I remember how often I admired her, and was jealous of her. The only regret I ever knew Jackie to have was that asymmetrical “mushroom” haircut she got in grade 12 – and she blamed us for letting her get her grad picture taken in it! I was in Jackie’s life when she and Ron welcomed JJ into the world. He lit up her life. She was the proudest big sister I have ever known! I can only imagine how simply overjoyed she must have been to welcome Jadon, Aaron and Riley and the whole clan into her world through Don’s love. To Theresa, Don, family, and our friends, I am sorry that after all the life and love and laughter we shared that I wasn’t there to hold Jackie’s hand this time when her heart was breaking – but I trust God was there with her – as He is now, loving her and assuring her that His love and grace and mercy will remain with each of you until we are all reunited with her, and Joe, in Christ’s endless unfailing embrace. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends (1 Corinthians 18: 7-8a). Karen (Hudson) Kuhnert

For about nine years, Jackie was an everyday presence in my life. We went to high school and university together. We lived and curled together. We fretted our career journeys and started our adult lives together. We shared hopes and dreams. We shared Spirit River and Edmonton friends and we made memories together – winter hot tub parties in the backyard of our house, sing-a-longs at the downtown Rose and Crown, line dancing at Esmeralda’s and Cook County Saloon. We laughed and laughed and we cooked and decorated and gardened and cried together. We even screamed for Michael Bolton together (it was the 80’s and 90’s). Life wasn’t always smooth. Jake could never get me to go with her family to Costco, and I could never get her to care much about politics. But, we knew one another’s hearts - deeply. She held my hand as my dad was dying of cancer. And I held her hand when her heart was breaking too. That’s what friends do. Jackie loved the After School Care Centre in Edmonton and her teaching program at the U of A. These were such fantastic fits for the gifts God had given her. She naturally excelled with children and staff and although her work was already creative and dynamic, she nonetheless constantly improved her teaching and presentation skills because she cared to do well for the sake of someone else’s learning and life development. (continued in next entry)...
