Dorothy Marie Floen


April 17, 1934 - September 11, 2012

 

Dorothy Floen, longtime resident of Buffalo Lake, passed away at the QEII Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the age of 78 years. Dorothy was born in Sexsmith at Johanna’s and raised in Valhalla Centre. She married Ronald Floen on October 31, 1959. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for many years as well as helped with the farming while raising two children. Dorothy moved from the family farm to Grande Prairie in 2011. She will be sadly missed by her son Brian Floen, daughter Margo Chilton (Floen), granddaughter Hannah Chilton, sister Ruth (Rodney) Floen, sisters in-law Mona Middleton and Eileen Langstaff; nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and Royal Purple. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald Floen, mother and father Gertrude and Clifford Floen, sister Grace Floen, brothers in-law Lorn Middleton and Leo Floen. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 7:00-8:00pm at Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 2:00pm at Calvary Lutheran Church in LaGlace. Interment will be at Norden Cemetery in LaGlace. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norden Cemetery or to a charity of one’s choice.
