Something we hear quite often at Oliver’s Funeral Home is, “Mom didn’t want a fuss”. Many people are uncomfortable with the idea of a funeral that is all about them and their life. However, these people are often the first people there to celebrate birthdays, weddings, and to lend support at a funeral. Should we not be celebrating them as well?
Gathering after a death plays an important role in the healing of our grief. It helps us acknowledge the reality of the death, celebrate the life of the deceased, and gives loved ones a chance to mourn together and support one another.
If a traditional funeral is not for you, have a barbecue, memorial luncheon, graveside service, or game night! How you celebrate their life is not important. What is important is gathering together with friends and family to remember your loved one and grieve together.
We encourage you to do something as a community to celebrate their life. For more ideas on ways to celebrate a life, visit https://www.oliversfuneralhome.com/funeral-planning/funeral-options/
