Adele Mary Melvina Fitchett passed away at her home in Grande Prairie, AB on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the age of 89 years.

Adele was born in Consort, AB to William and Adele Fitchett on June 4, 1927. Orphaned at age 8, Adele spent four years in the Lacombe Home in Midnapore, AB until she was adopted by a family in Medicine Hat. There she completed her high school and Nurse’s Aide course.

Adele spent most of her working life at Hotel-Dieu Hospital in Whitelaw, AB where she cared for the sick and elderly patients. Adele retired to Fairview and spent 25 years in a town that she loved dearly until moving to Grande Prairie in 2012 to be closer to family.

Adele’s strong faith and love of Jesus remained with her throughout her life. She cherished every moment she spent with her nieces, nephews, family and friends, but it was her love for her furry family that gave her the most joy. Flora (the boss) and Twinkle (the little one) will miss her dearly.

Adele will be lovingly remembered by her brother William “Bill” Fitchett; nephews Alvin (Laurie) Fitchett, Larry (Brenda Hickson) Fitchett and Darrell (Tina) Fitchett; nieces Norine (Howard) Laverick, Bonnie (Jeff) Mierzejewski and Billie Leggett; as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Adele was predeceased by her parents William and Adele Fitchett, brother and sister in-law Joseph and Florence Fitchett, sister in-law Virginia Fitchett and nephew William “Billy” Fitchett.

A family Memorial will be held for Adele at a later date.
