Albert D. Rawlek, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the age of 92 years.

Albert was born on November 11, 1930, to John and Helena Rawlek. He was born and raised on the family farm in Rycroft, AB.

While Albert helped farm on the family farm in Rycroft, he also had various jobs from driving truck, operating heavy equipment, working on the docks in Vancouver, BC, loading ships, to road construction throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

Albert met and married his wife Julia Korol. They got married on October 31, 1954, and raised their 8 children on the farm. Albert and Julia retired and sold the family farm in June of 2015, and moved to Grande Prairie.

He will be remembered as a hard worker and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Albert will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years Julia Rawlek; 8 children: James (Kelly) Rawlek, Carol (Jerry) McAssey, Ivan (Pam) Rawlek, Patrick (Patricia) Rawlek, Gloria (Steve) Jaycox, Georgia (Ron) Sauve, Albert Rawlek Jr., and Donnie (Marietta) Rawlek; his siblings: Peter (Pauline) Rawlek, Anne Sandul, Vicky Pelling, and Claudia Paish; as well as 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Albert was predeceased by John and Helena Rawlek, and half brother Ivan Rawlek.

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 10:00am at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Service and luncheon to follow. Interment to follow at the Greenway Cemetery in Rycroft.
