Obituary For Alexander Didow

Alex Didow, resident of Grande Cache, AB, formerly of Rycroft, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Grande Cache Community Health Complex, at the age of 85 years.

Alex was born February 26, 1932 in Rycroft, AB., where he was raised.

In 1970, Alex moved to Grande Cache, where he owned and operated Chalet Foods for 45 years.

Chalet Foods was his life. Alex had a love for hockey and played for the Spirit River Rangers (1950-1960) and many other teams. He was a huge fan of the Edmonton Oilers. Being a family man, he coached his five boys through Minor Hockey. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing cards and poker.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Dorothy Didow; children: Ron, Greg (Gail Dupuis), Mark, Duane (Krista), and Phillip (Jodie); grandchildren: Sarah Didow (Dan Kickbush), Robyn (Nick) Stubbs, Scott Didow, Samantha (Scott) Stad, Bret Didow and Mya Didow; great-grandchildren: Will and Dane Kickbush, Jordan, Hannah and Nolan Stubbs, Kayden and Brinley Stad; as well as sisters Vera Brown and Olga McNaughton.

Alex was predeceased by his parents George and Helen Didow, and 7 half-brothers and sisters.

Vigil Prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at 7:00pm, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Grande Cache, AB (10734 Shand Ave).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at 1:00pm, at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Grande Cache Community Health Complex (10200 Shand Ave Grande Cache, AB, T0E 0Y0)

    Dear Dorothy and family. I was so sorry to hear of Alexâ?? passing. It seems like yesterday that we were at your place in Rycroft looking after your kids. Brother Allen said he made 5$ one New Years Eve at your place! Perhaps Iâ??ll see you at a Rycroft reunion sometime in the near future. I hope youâ??re well. Sincerely, Jean Perritt.
