Allan Leroy Erickson, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, formerly of Milk River, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, in Beaverlodge at the age of 66 years.

He married Rita Brownscombe on May 3, 1980, in Drumheller, AB, at the United Church. Allan worked for the Department of Transportation for 19 years, did road construction, road maintenance, and truck driving for 16 years.

Allan treated people as if he had known them their whole lives, he had a big heart. He loved his children and grandchildren very much.

Allan loved fishing, bottle picking, gardening, watching television and movies; some of his favourites were Down Periscope, Hee Haw, M.A.S.H, Hogan’s Heroes, and Every Which Way But Loose. An old hobby of his was riding his motorcycle.

Allan will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years Rita Erickson; children: Alice (Chad) Dumont, Leif (Alberta) Erickson, Clara Erickson (Charles Comb), and Barbara Erickson (Paul Fisher); mother Regina “Jean” Erickson; grandchildren Judy Erickson and Kash Erickson-Fisher; siblings: Edward (Karen) Erickson, David (Wanda) Erickson, and Dale (Laurel) Erickson; as well as nieces and nephews.

Allan was predeceased by his father Leif Erickson, sister Bev Gibson, grandma Adina Wacker, uncle Edward Erickson, as well as aunt Alice Erickson.

Allan had a lot of angels on his shoulder looking after him for the last 66 years, until they took him home. His faith had gotten a lot stronger over the last 3 years since he got sick and retired.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 11:00am, at the Faith Lutheran Church (9610 108 Ave, Grande Prairie).

Condolences

  • July 16, 2021

I'm a saddened to read about Allans passing. I know Allan from a medical clinic, I always enjoyed when he came in, he had a smile on his face and a story to tell, usually about his grandchildren. He was so proud to have them in his life. Allan had health issues but from what I saw, he handled them with dignity and humour. Tracy Burgess @ the doctors office. -Tracy Burgess
