Obituary For Alvin William Hobbs
Alvin Hobbs, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Blanc Sablon, QC, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the age of 42 years.
Alvin was born on October 24, 1978, in the Lower North Shore of Quebec to Paulette and William Hobbs. He spent most of his time hunting, trapping, and fishing with his father. Alvin moved to Edmonton, AB, in 1996. He started work at the Edmonton Exchangers, where he obtained his Journeyman B Pressure ticket in Welding. Alvin met Nicole in August 2001, and they moved to Grande Prairie together in 2004 where he began his career in the Oil and Gas Industry. Alvin married Nicole August 14th, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV. In 2008, Alvin and Nicole welcomed their first son Lucas the day after Alvin’s birthday, and in 2011, Samuel joined their family to make it complete. Alvin started his own company “Chipmunk Welding Inc” in 2011. He spent most of his career working for Dobson Oilfield and Waydex Services where he met many long-term friends and coworkers.
Alvin’s mom always said he loved to torment; she wasn’t wrong. If he could find a way to tease you, he would. He always brought the fun to family events and made sure no member was left out of that fun.
He was an avid outdoorsman. Alvin loved hunting, fishing, boating, quadding and camping, especially with his family. He loved building Lego with Lucas and kicking butt at Candyland against Sam. He was fond of East Coast music as well. Alvin always put everyone before himself and would not hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
Alvin will be dearly missed by his wife Nicole (nee Doll); sons Lucas and Samuel; parents Bill and Paulette; sister Roseanna (Yvon); Grandma Roberts; in-laws Charles and Eunice Doll, Kara (Mitch) Herbert, Clayton (Jessie) Doll; nieces Kyla (Patrick, Riley, Greyson), Stacy, Crystal, Paige, and Izzy; nephews Murray, Zander, Josh, and Nico; as well as some of the greatest friends a guy could ask for: Aiden Maloney, Nathan Sales, Jeremy Cheney, Geoff Harrison and many more not listed but please know you were all dear to his heart.
Alvin was predeceased by his grandparents Meme and Pepe Hobbs and Grandpa Roberts.
Memorial Donations may be made to STARS (10911 123 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7Z3).
When I come to the end of the horizon
And enter the other shore
Remember me with fondness
Cry for me no more
I have found my final resting place
That special spot to fish
Remember the times that we shared
You too, I will miss
This is the journey I must take,
And I must go alone
Know that my heart is with you
As I take the journey home.
To that final fishing hole
For fishermen like me
To tell the biggest fishing tales
About the one that got away
Remember me with fondness
This is not goodbye
It is, “Till we meet again
At the fishing hole in the sky”
