Obituary For Angela Helga Charlotte Wiebe
Angela Wiebe, loving wife, partner, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter Stephanie at her side in the early morning hours on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the age of 61 years. She courageously fought a long battle with cancer.
Angela was born September 16, 1960, in Medicine Hat, AB, to Uwe and Helga Weinert and spent her childhood years there. In 1977, she travelled to Grande Prairie, AB, with her friend Susan and never looked back. She made her life in Grande Prairie for the next 45 years.
Angela met and married her husband Peter Wiebe shortly after. They had their daughter Stephanie on March 12, 1983, and were together 25 years before Pete's passing in 2005.
While new in Grande Prairie, Angela worked in various jobs including concession worker at the Gaiety Theatre and Car Hop at A&W. Permanent work was found at the ALCB Liquor Store for 7 years before it was privatized. Angela also worked at Horne and Pitfield in the Warehouse. She took a break to further her education at the Grande Prairie Regional College and graduated with honors in Office Administration in 1997. This gave her managerial opportunities at Horne and Pitfield (which became Agora Food Merchants and then Sobeys) as office supervisor until the office's closing. She had worked there for 16 years.
Angela then went to work for Weatherford Completion Systems in Grande Prairie and remained there until her passing. Throughout these jobs she cemented lifelong friendships, as was attested to by the many visits she received from co-workers, former co-workers, and friends when she was sick.
Angela had loved camping, travelling to the Okanagan, puzzles, attending concerts for her favorite group II Divo with friends, or just hanging out drinking coffee (specifically Timmies), Ceasers, Lemon Drops: and being with the people who mattered most to her. Recently Angela found she enjoyed cooking again. She loved to laugh and have fun with people.
Angela felt very fortunate to find a partner in Lester Gaudaur that truly made her whole. They shared many years together, going places such as camping at Sturgeon Lake, spending time relaxing on the deck at home and looking out for one another. Angela was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back if anyone needed it. She was kind, generous, and had a very soft heart. She had a strong personality and wasn't afraid to speak her mind and tell it like it is. She had a special affinity for cats and they were companions throughout her life. She was very proud of her daughter Stephanie and cherished the time they spent together.
Angela had close friends whom she considered family and together they loved and supported one another even during trying times. They made many memories together that are still talked about with great fondness and laugher to this day.
Angela is survived by her partner Lester; daughter Stephanie (Josh); mother Helga Weinert; in-laws Steve and Sandy Baron; sisters in-law Maribeth Wiebe and Jane McNally Gammon; four nieces; one nephew; also left to mourn are many other family members and close friends who are like family. Angela was predeceased by her husband Peter; father Uwe Weinert; grandparents Wilhelm and Adeline Peliwan; cousin Monika Narel; brothers in-laws Gary Baron and Darrel Wiebe; as well as mother in-law Mary Nagy.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St).
