Obituary For Anita Henrietta Isert Kons

Anita Kons, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Clairmont, AB, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the age of 82 years.

Anita was born in Marwayne, AB, on April 5, 1938, to Carl and Gladys Isert. Fiercely independent, Anita left school early to support herself, taking a variety of positions along the way. From waitressing to working as a camp cook, she never shied away from a challenge. She met and dated (perhaps a bit too long in her view) a young man named Milan Kons from Sexsmith, AB. True to her spirit, she told Milan, “It was time to p#ss or get off the pot”. Anita and Milan were married on October 4, 1957, and remained inseparable until his passing in 2018.

While raising a young family, Anita continued working stints at the Grande Prairie Hospital and as a nurse’s aid at Central Park Lodge. A neighbor asked if Anita would be interested in taking a small job painting the inside of their house. She was soon so busy with additional projects that Milan left his position at Midwest Electric to join her. Kons Painting and Carpentry was born and they worked side by side until their eventual retirement.

Anita had the greenest of thumbs. When she wasn’t enjoying a daily coffee with her many friends, she could be found tending to her many plants or working in the beautifully manicured yard that she and Milan took such pride in. She loved a good Sunday drive and a good Sunday supper with the family. Her kids always knew she was one of the “cool” moms, hosting numerous epic holiday parties and teaching many of their friends how to two-step and polka while the family band played in dancehalls throughout the area.

Anita will be missed by her children: Randy (Shelley), Gary (Angela), Michele, and Diane (Geoff); grandchildren: Carly, Holly, Brittany, Jennifer, Melissa, Ben, Emily, Donavan, Tyson, and Katie; sister Evelyn; and brother Oscar.

Anita was predeceased by her husband Milan; infant daughter Eldine; and siblings: William, Ernest, and Clara.

Anita’s family would like to thank the staff at the Grande Prairie Care Center and all those who have sent condolences and well wishes. She will be missed.

Wishing peace and grace for you and your families, In love, cousin Colleen xx
