Obituary For Anne Guydash

Anne Guydash (nee Schudlo), resident of Didsbury, AB, formerly of Rycroft, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Bethany Care Centre in Didsbury, AB, at the age of 90 years.

Anne was born in Rycroft, on November 26, 1933. She attended a country school in Volin, AB where she met her one and only true love Bill. Together they farmed in the Volin and Rycroft area, before relocating to Kelowna, BC, where they retired for 35 years. Anne and Bill were together for 68 years – those years were filled with fiddling, dancing, late nights with friends, Ukrainian cooking, and big holiday celebrations with lots of grandkids.

Family meant everything to Anne. Her children were always her number one priority; she nurtured them with the same special care she gave her beautiful gardens. She gave them roots, and the space to grow; she embraced them with kindness and support. Her home was her paradise and Kelowna bloomed every summer with roses and hydrangeas. Visitors were welcomed with all the fresh fruits and vegetables her arms could carry. She would can in the heat of the Kelowna summers, putting together hundreds of jars of preserves so she could always send a care package home with whoever came to visit. She was incredibly hard-working throughout her life. She would have liked to know that she taught everyone what it means to be strong, and confident, to wear what you want, say what you feel, and always love your family hard. She had an infectious laugh and always made everyone feel welcome. Her life was simple in a beautiful way and rich with memories of family, who she cherished deeply. She was a lady who loved her jewels and glitter. Those who were fortunate enough to know Anne will miss her dearly… especially her special heart of gold

Anne will be sadly missed by her children: Rosemarie Samulenok (Joe), Clarence Guydash (Olga), Donna Blaskovits (Steve); brother Harry Schudlo (Emily); as well as her five grandchildren: Andrew, Nick, Danielle, Brittany, and Cole; seven great-grandchildren: Jase, Gage, Everett, Seth, Norah, Brantley, and Allison.

Anne was predeceased by her husband William Guydash, who passed away on July 26, 2019. She was also predeceased by her brother Steve, and sister, Marie.

A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB (10005 -107 Ave). A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation may be made in Anne’s memory (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3248).

My heart hurts that Auntie is gone and she will definitely be missed. I remember her most for her contagious laughter and love of bling, which she passed onto me. Once when we were admiring our rings we likened ourselves to a couple of magpies and giggled so hard. She has gone Home where there is only joy and those she loved that went before. All my love Auntie - you are finally free to spread your wings and fly! Barb Dawson
