This news comes as a real shockâ?¦. While we worked together peripherally, Leeny and I had very similar tastes in music and often saw each other and chatted at gigsâ?¦. She was (and always be) a true punk rawker...and will have many on the other side to celebrate that spirit with - I'll miss you here though... Your pal ~J

My condolences to Arlene's family - you raised up such a good person and we were lucky to know her. She had a kind heart and she shared it so easily. She was quick to help, quick to laugh, quick to tell you a really sick joke if you needed it. I already miss her a lot and I'll never understand why life was so mean to her in her last years. If anyone deserved a happy ending in this world, it was Arlene.

I worked with Arlene years ago in Forestry, and she was always bubbly, smiling and quick with a laugh or joke. We always had a great time just talking and laughing about mundane things. Her love for Marcus and all things punk and rock was apparent every day. She was such a lovely person and wonderful friend, and she is remembered and missed by many. My condolences to and wishes for comfort in the love and memories you shared. I hope Arlene is at peace with Marcus.

I apologize for being so late with this. My name is Andre and I work in Forestry with Government of Alberta. In the course of a conversation with someone today, I was told that Arlene had passed last year. I should clarify that I didn't necessarily work with Arlene directly. While I did see her from time to time at larger group events, like a Forestry BBQ or something, it was rather rare. We were acquainted, but I didn't know her very well. But that being said. When I started with Forestry, many years ago, Arlene was one of the first people I met aside from my boss. I was with the department not even a week and I was invited to attend a conference in Edmonton. Arlene was one of the first people I met as I walked in the door. Now I don't remember much about the conference - what it was about, the ministers that spoke, the keynote speakers, BUT if you ask me what I DO remember most about that entire day, it was how friendly and kind Arlene was to me. You see I was new and nervous and surrounded by what seemed like the entire Forestry division. Hundreds of people (strangers really) and as luck would have it Arlene was the first person I met. I can't recall what we talked about and the details are fuzzy (I have bad memory that way), but what I do remember and will never forget it seems is how she made me feel - like I was part of this Forestry family, instantly. She made me feel like I belonged. It may not seem like much to most, but it's very important to me. For years, I've told people that I love working for Forestry (and I do) and when they ask why, I tell them it's because it feels like family. That feeling and pride I feel? In my mind, it always traces right back to that first meeting with Arlene. I thank God she's the one that I got to meet that day. She sealed my impression of what the good side of Forestry looked like and I've always been grateful to her for being so welcoming and kind when I needed it most. I wish I would have taken some t

May you find comfort knowing as a family that she was a beautiful spirit that will now soar in the heavens. Rest In Peace sweet Arlene!

I remember the first day me and Leeny met, my cat had taken her kittens for a field trip and I ended up finding a little Arlene under the balcony of their duplex playing with said kittens. From that day forward we were friends. Throughout the years Leeny, Sam and I would truck off the mall for a San Francisco shopping trip or spend many of nights walking to Mc Donalds for pickle wall races and then head back to my place to play Nightmare. She had to deal with my country music sometimes (She was okay with me playing Johnny Cash) and of course my stinky high school feet which until this day she often reminded me of. Her passing has left a huge void in mine and countless many others hearts. Every time I see a Seagull or dandelion I think of her! My deepest condolences to Stan, Stella, family and countless other friends during this difficult time.

Arlene's smile and energy were infectious. Her loss is indeed tragic and she will be missed. I hope that Arlene and Marcus now have the best seat in the house for the eternal Pearl Jam concert she always wished for and that this time she doesn't have to worry anymore about having to kidnap the lead singer (an inside joke we had). Rest easy Arlene.
