Obituary For Audrey Ann Breitkreutz Therriault

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Audrey Therriault, who has gone to her eternal home to be with our Heavenly Father. A longtime resident of Wembley, Audrey passed away suddenly in Edmonton, AB, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the age of 73 years.

Audrey was born in Beaverlodge, AB, on April 25, 1946 to parents Ernest and Mary Breitkreutz. She was the fifth of seven children that grew up on the family farm near Wembley. She was baptized (May 12, 1946), confirmed (April 10, 1960), and attended school at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

In 1964 she married Bruno Obst and they had five children: Wendy, Kim, Robert, Leslie, and Brenda. She worked for several years doing various jobs in the hospitality industry, followed by years of babysitting children in her home, many still to this day call her Grandma Audrey.

In 1990 she married Norm Therriault and they built their life together around their family and numerous close friends. Together they enjoyed their grandkids, camping, gardening, puzzling, coffee and visiting.

Audrey’s door was always open and her coffee was always on. More often than not you’d visit with a jigsaw puzzle on the table that she was working on. Her signature homemade donuts and Danish pastry will be carried on.

Left to mourn her passing are her children: Wendy (Walter) Hill, Kim Babiuk (Keith), Robert Obst, Les (Shannon) Obst, and Brenda (Rob) Kjemhus; twelve grandchildren: Spencer (Makayla), Jordan, Brent (Jacky), Janelle (Rodney), Josh (Ashley), Lynnsey, Sarah, MaKayla, Jeremy, Raylene, Josie, and Nole; nine great-grandchildren; sister in-law Hilda; brothers and sisters: Marian (Ray), Norm (Lis), Doreen, Doug (Jeannette), and Roger (Linda); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Norm in 2010, parents Ernest and Mary Breitkreutz, brother Ernie Breitkreutz, brother in-law Eddie Schultz, and son in-law Paul Babiuk.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 11:00am at Valhalla Lutheran Church (AB-59, Valhalla Centre, AB) with Pastor Ella Loberg officiating. Interment to follow at Valhalla Cemetery. Everyone is invited for lunch and fellowship at the Valhalla Community Center immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (c/o University Hospital Foundation, 2A9.006 MAHI 8440 112 St. NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2B7), Valhalla Lutheran Church (Box 49, Valhalla Centre, AB T0H 3M0), or a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank everyone for the expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.
