Obituary For Audrey "Patti" Patricia Healey

Audrey Patricia Healey, known to her loved ones as Patti, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the age of 63 years.

She was born in Glace Bay, NS, and was a resident of Hythe, AB, for the last 27 years of her life. Patti’s life’s work was teaching. She adored her students and lived to see them succeed. She was proud to have been the teacher of Horse Lake School for many years, where both her students and her colleagues treated her with great respect. Though she was unable to work for the final years of her life, she carried love and gratitude for the people of Horse Lake with her always.

Patti was a kind and courageous soul, who even on her most unwell days thought only of others. She spent much of her free time knitting sweaters for friends and family. She was also an ardent supporter of the arts, and had worked with local theatre company Broadway Live Broadway on their annual shows since 2008. She had a passion for reading and devoured books constantly, a habit which she passed on to her daughter, along with many wonderful memories.

Patti will be deeply missed by her husband of 37 years Rick Healey, and her daughter Ricki. She also leaves behind mother in-law Agatha Healey; siblings: Jimmy (Ann) Tarso, Sharon (Bobby) Stewart, Marie (Greg) Nagam, Joanne Wilson, Lonnie (Dale) McNeil, and Kim (Jack) Kelly; brothers and sisters in-law: Linda, Isabel, Marlene (Brendan), Jackie, John (Terri), Michael (Lucy), and Gary (Rhonda), who were as close to her as her own siblings; as well as nieces and nephews, who are too many to list, were loved fiercely by her and will miss her deeply.

Patti was predeceased by her parents Audrey and Frank; brother Daniel “Buster”; father in-law John; as well as her brothers in-law Gerard and Wayne.

The family has chosen not to have a service at this time.

If you wish to show your respects, we ask that you do so by giving to a charitable cause, or performing a good deed for someone in need.

Patti was the best. She put her heart and soul into everything she did. She inspired me in many ways. She will be dearly missed.

My condolences to Patti's family and many friends during this heartbreaking time. I taught with Patti in Red Sucker Lake, Manitoba in the early 80's. She was also my roommate. I hadn't met Patti or our third roommate Kim before landing by float plane in the little community. The three of us were from Cape Breton Island and met in Northern Manitoba. That was a wild coincidence. Patti made a huge difference in my life - she welcomed so many lovely people into our home. It was a great place to live because of her. She supported me as a first year teacher, taught me to knit, and made me laugh. Life was better when Patti was in the room!

Patti was my sister and I have a lifetime of memories of our times together. She was kind, patient, accepting and full of love. She had a positive impact on every person she met. She will be missed dearly. Fly high my beautiful sister.
