Obituary For Barbara Eileen Kiddine (nee Shermak)
Barbara Kiddine, long-time resident of the Kleskun Hills area, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the age of 90 years.
Barbara Shermak was born in Camrose, AB, where she met her future husband. She married Harry Kiddine in 1957, and settled on their farmstead in the Peace Country. Barbara and Harry raised 5 children: Bridget, Leona, Rod, Yvonne, and Allison. Barbara celebrated her 90th birthday last week while still living on the family farm along with her husband.
She was a busy, hardworking woman. She sewed all the girls’ clothes, grew huge gardens, baked endlessly, and worked alongside Harry outside doing chores and farming. But it wasn’t all work as she loved to visit with friends and family, quilted, and did needlework in the evenings while watching her preferred gameshows on TV. Her favorite pastimes were her antique collection and the countless games of cards.
Barabara was a woman of faith and her commitment to God never wavered.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Harry; sister Cecilia Steinwandt; sister in-law Marion Shermak; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Bridget and Norm Hennigar, their children Ross and Lindsey, (their children Isabella, Talia, and Teah), Corey and Kristine (their children Lucas, Freddie, Sophia and Elias), Cali and Alina; Leona and Duane Carol, their children Justin, Dallas and Andrea (their son Maverick), Karson and Kyla (their children Karter and Kamrie); Rod and Colleen Kiddine, their children Ellen (her daughter Cassandra), Christa and Tim (their son Eric), Terri-Jan and Shane (their children Ethan, Carter, Aiden and Owen), Spencer and Chelsea (their son Hudson), Levi and Anjoulee; Yvonne and Brian Kinsey; Allison and Rudy Maxwell; their children Maria and Jenna.
A Prayer service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bezanson Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bezanson Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Glen Leslie Cemetery.
Please join the family for a time of fellowship, video tribute, and supper at the Bezanson Catholic Church Hall following the interment.

Barb was family of choice to us. She and Harry, along with the Kiddine family welcomed myself, my husband Lyndsay and our kids into their home & world. I loved her like blood & will deeply miss our visits, chats & tours around the museum she so loved to give, always checking to see if I had any idea what an old piece of her collection was. Our deepest sympathy to the Kiddine family. A glorious woman now promoted to Glory! Liz, Lyndsay McDonald & family xx
