It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Elizabeth Smith, announce her passing on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 79 years.

She was born in the village of St. Boswell, SK, as the oldest child of 9. Her siblings were: James, Melva, Clara, Florence, Richard, Brenda, Charles, and Charlene.

She moved to Calgary in 1956 where she met and married the love of her life, Donald Laurence Smith on October 8, 1956. They started their family in Calgary, AB, then moved to Grande Prairie in 1962, where they completed their family. They raised their family in Grande Prairie, and in retirement, they moved to the Grovedale area.

Barbara was survived by: son Scot Alexander, grandchildren Alexander, Jeffery, and Celeste, great-grandchildren Tanner and Colton; son Donald Lawrence (Charlene), grandchildren Donald, Desiree, and Dustin, great-grandchildren Shay-Lean, Shahanna, Embrey, Payten, Emmerson, and Rylee; daughter Louisa Diane (Allan) Peterson, grandchildren Tony, Sean and Eric, great-grandchildren Jade, Zachary, Hunter, Gunnar, and Soren; son Kelly MacGregor, grandchildren Kelli-Lee, Jerimie, Louisia, great-grandchildren Jace, Kaeleigh-Dawn, and Kyloh; son Jason’s family grandchildren John, Mellisa, Jayson, and Cassandra; son Darcy William, grandchildren Greg, Dane, Keifer, and Santana, great-grandchildren Donald, Dustin, Emma, Taniesha, and Emily. Barb was also survived by extended family Phil Joachim and Rosie and Lloyd Chailofoux, as well as so many close family friends and extended relations too numerous to mention.

She was predeceased by her parents in 1961, son Jason Leonard in August 1996, loving husband in May, 2000, and her granddaughter in August, 2012.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 2:00pm, at the Grovedale Community Hall.
