Obituary For Barry Robert Wills

Barry Robert Wills, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at the age of 58 years.

Barry was born to Douglas and Agnes Wills on June 30, 1962, in Beaverlodge, AB. He was married to the love of his life, Kelly Wills in 1981. They were blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Barry and Kelly spent 39 amazing years together. From camping, and fishing (although often not catching anything), to travelling around the world together, whether that be on a cruise ship, road tripping across Canada in a convertible, watching soccer in Australia, or just RVing.

He loved being with family. Barry was a proud grandfather and could always be counted on to cheer from the stands at a hockey rink, driving to practices, waiting at the finish line, or bragging about them to anyone who would listen.

Barry was fortunate to have worked for 38 years at the Grande Prairie Pulp Mill and Drayton Valley Mill in many roles, including steam engineer, operator and manager.

He was a true friend, beloved uncle, and could always be counted on for advice or a helping hand.

Barry will be sadly missed by his wife Kelly; children: Amie (Kyle), Jessie (Jon), and Cory (Ashleigh); grandchildren: Owen, Jordan, Tavish, Brooklyn, and Callen; mother Agnes; siblings: Gloria, Lorraine, Danny, Ralph, Wendy, John, and Eunice; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his father Douglas; sisters Yvonne and Lucy; and brothers: Scott, Raymond and Brian.

A private, family-only Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020, at 9:45am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Grande Prairie City Cemetery.

For those who wish to view the service from home, a live stream will be available to view on the Oliver’s Funeral Home Facebook Page 15-30 minutes before the start of the service (https://www.facebook.com/olivers.funeral.home/).

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (#144, 5241 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 5G8).

I just wanted to pass on our condolences from myself and the Doyer family. I have known and respected Barry since the first day we started at Weyerhaeuser together. Besides being a friend I could always share ideas with I have never met anyone so committed to his morals, values and sense of fairness before or since. Although he will be dearly missed by everyone it is small condolence that I am sure those values have been passed on to his children and grandchildren and they will as well make a positive difference in a world which sorely needs that kind of help. Please pass on the Doyer family thoughts and prayers to the entire Wills family and know that he will be remembered.
