Obituary For Betty May Morrison Nellis
Our “Grandma Betty” lived gently and kindly for all of her 97 years and, so too, it was peacefully, that she left this world on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Betty was born near Rio Grande, on July 2, 1921 to Francis and Anne Morrison. Here she remained until moving to Edmonton to attend nursing school at the Misericordia Hospital. In 1945, she married the love of her life, her best friend, Bill Nellis. They lived and raised their family in the Glen Leslie District, east of Grande Prairie. In 1977, they moved to Clairmont where Betty spent countless hours volunteering and playing cards at the Senior's Centre. Betty relocated to the Pioneer Lodge in Grande Prairie in 2011 where she resided until her passing.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Stella Ann Loewen; daughter in-law Lois Nellis; son in-law Ken Biron; grandchildren: Sandra Schenk, Alan Biron, Rene (Jacqueline) Biron, Stacie (Randy) Bratrud, Wade (Joan) Nellis, Scott (Delana Kelly) Nellis, and Craig (Charla) Nellis; 11 much-adored great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill, son Frank, daughter Enid, son in-law Cliff Loewen, granddaughter Brenda Harding, and siblings: Jim (Kay) Morrison, Florence Morrison, Francis (Evelyn) Morrison, and Annabelle (Tom) Funnell.
Many will remember Betty for her kind and compassionate ways, her willing hands and her love of nature, gardening and crafting. She had a strong devotion to her family and she made every member feel special and unique, never missing a chance to embrace them with unconditional love. She was a lady of very few wants and needs, and one of the few people we meet in life who was completely satisfied with the way in which her life had unfolded.
Betty’s Funeral will take place Monday, June 3, 2019, at 11:00am at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (144, 5241 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 5G8) or the charity of one’s choice.

Betty and Bill were always very kind to me when I lived with Grandma Morrison, many years ago now. I remember Betty with affection though it has been a long time since I have had contact with her. But the memory of those days has stayed with me! My sympathy to the family, and especially to Stella Ann. Kathy (Thomson)McClellan

We were either at your house below the hill, or ours on top of the hill. I considered it my second home...............and depending on the chores I had to, often wanted to stay permanently. My sincere and heartfelt condolences.
