Obituary For Bonnie Doon Hanna Lunn

Longtime resident of Tangent, AB, Bonnie Lunn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 90 years.

Bonnie was born March 12, 1928 in Westbourne, MB to James and Lottie Hanna. She was raised, along with two brothers and one sister, on the family farm. She grew up loving being outside, helping with chores on the farm, horseback riding, and walking to school “uphill both ways”.

At the age of 15, she met James Lunn, who would become her husband and lifelong partner four years later. They were married July 9, 1947, and moved to the Peace River area in the fall of 1952 to homestead with three small children. They were blessed with four more children over the years.

She worked hard throughout her life: helping on the farm, gardening, and putting up preserves for future use. Many picnics were enjoyed, community groups, curling and endless card games played with the neighbours. In her later years, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and spending time with their fur baby, Nipper. She always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bonnie will be forever in the hearts of her loving husband of 70 years James Lunn; children Murray (Vivian), Arnold (Judy), Carolyn (Rick), Robert (Carmen), Judy (Jerry), and Brenda (Rob); 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brothers: Dennis (Kaye), and James (Norma); brothers in-law: Harvey, and Donald (Ronnie); sister in-law Grace; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Roy, parents James and Lottie, sister Letitia, father and mother in-law John and Margaret, brother in-law Bill, and sister in-law Ena (Mac),

A Bonnie’s request, there will be no funeral service held.

“You will be forever in our hearts”.

To all my cousins that I donâ??t see often enough & Uncle Jim, I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Bonnieâ??s passing. She was truly a kindred soul. Because most of my time with her was when I was a child or teen, I only remember her working. She was always doing something to care for her family. The â??Lunnâ?? card games were always an exciting event with no shortage of arguments & laughter. I am happy to say I got a short visit with Aunt Bonnie & Uncle Jim summer 2016. It was like stepping back in time listening to their conversations. There were lots of great childhood memories of the family. It was great to see Arnold & Judy on the same visit & experience a modern day farm. This past winter it was great to connect with Bobby & Carmen & have another rousing â??Lunnâ?? card game. I hope to see the rest of you some day soon. Thanks to sociial media pictures pop up from time to time. Cousin Fran

My condolences and thoughts are with you all. I remember Bonnie and Jim curling, playing cards and partying with my parents Stan & Marlene Erickson. Bonnie was a wonderful lady with a quick smile and she will be missed.

On behalf of the Blakley family I wish to pass on our condolences to Jim and the Lunn family. Bonnie & Jim were one of those "non French" families living in the boonies north of Tangent. Not speaking the preferred language ever detered them from becoming very involved and contributing members of the community. I remember many crib games amongst the Lunns, Ericksons, Blakleys and Lambrights that although seemed "friendly", were always fought tooth and nail. Bonnie was always so welcoming and could be counted on for her bright smile and a great cup of tea. Rest in Peace Bonnie..
