Obituary For Brandan Butt
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brandan William John Hyde Butt, on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the young age of 24.
Brandan was born on May 4, 1993, in Clarenville, NL, but had been a resident of Grande Prairie, AB since he was 4 years old. He attended school in Grande Prairie and proudly graduated from PWA in 2011 and moved on to graduate as a small engine mechanic from Fairview College in 2016.
Brandan loved to fix stuff, all kinds of odds and ends. He enjoyed his mechanics, 4x4ing, snowboarding and anything he could do outdoors. He also had a great love for animals, especially his dog Tequila.
Brandan leaves behind his mother Danielle Critch, step-father Cory Spoozak, brothers Travis Butt and Ceygean Critch, sister Megan Barbour, long-time girlfriend Taylor Wolsey, grandmother Valerie Spoozak, uncle Aaron Spoozak (Jessica), nephew Damian Jervais, father Lorne Butt, Great-Nan and Pop Butt, as well as numerous other family and friends.
Brandan was predeceased by his uncle Jeff Critch, Great-Nan and Pop Critch and grandfather Roland Spoozak.
The family had a closed, family only, Viewing on Thursday, January 18, 2018 with cremation to follow. There will be a celebration of life announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suicide Prevention Resource Center (#200, Nordic Court, 10014 99 Street, T8V 3N4, 780-539-6680).

I have taught at Harry Balfour for many years, Ceygean was in my Grade 6 class and I met Cory at Parent Teacher Interviews. Through those school experiences, I know your family members are strong, ambitious, and you really have wonderful personalities! I did not get the opportunity to teach Brandan, but I was well aware that he too had a special connection with many of his teachers, such as Abby Stilwell and Wendy Crispin. I feel so very sorry for your family with such a tremendous loss, of your special son, brother, nephew, and grandson. I do not know Brandanâ??s story, but I see that your memorial donations are directed to the Grande Prairie Suicide Prevention Resource Center. My 19 year old daughter took her own life on Dec. 1, 2016; a tragic event that has changed our lives forever. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this journey of grief; and their cherished memories can keep us going, putting one foot in front of the other. My prayers for all of you to find peace and comfort in knowing that Brandan is with God, and the many other people who have gone before us. Hugs to you all.

I cannot begin to tell you how very sorry I am having learned of Brandans passing. Brandan has always had a special place in my heart and I have thought about him often over the years. That strong spirited little boy in my day care room so many years ago....the young boy on his bike who stopped by at my work to say â??Hiâ??......Rest In Peace Brandan. I shall never forget you. My sincere condolences to you all. Bev.

Ceygean, I am so sorry you and your family are going through this. My heart breaks for you. Brandon was a good kid, I know he had his struggles but I saw him as creative and kind with a unique "think outside the box" mentality that I admired. Actually, you have all those qualities as well. My husband likes to say that "Life is stumbling from one crisis to the next." Stumbling is a good description because we all do it. Yet, each crisis we stumble through is, in the end, a challenge we've accomplished and even during crisis there are moments of joy and laughter. The future still holds all of these. Sometimes in life there are days that just seem insurmountable. I'm here to tell you they are and that there are days, weeks and even years of joy, laughter, explorations, discoveries successes and yes, failures that are worth travelling. I wished Brandon could have looked beyond to the next days or weeks or years. You can for him, in remembrance of him. Thinking of you with love, Mrs. McDace
