Obituary For Brenda Louise Benson

Brenda Benson, a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she touched.

Brenda Louise Benson, born on September 10, 1960. Brenda grew up in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and later moved to Vegreville, Alberta. She graduated from Sexsmith Secondary school in 1979 and became a proud mother to Arthur Laine Benson in December 1988.

Brenda's love for her family knew no bounds. She adored being a mother and aunt. Brenda’s kindness, generosity, and warmth earned her the affection of many nieces, nephews, and friends throughout the Peace Country.

Brenda had a gift for listening and offering words of encouragement. Her presence was a balm to those who felt down or discouraged. Even in the face of health challenges, including a stroke in 2019, Brenda's spirit remained unbroken.

In her final years, Brenda moved to Vegreville, Alberta, where she lived with her son Laine and helped care for her beloved fur grandbabies, Jackson, Dutton, Tina, and Hank. She also cherished her role as honorary aunt to Katie and Daxtin Knight, Levi and Jacob Ozon, Ethyn and Emma Anderson.

Brenda's passing on January 3, 2025, at Red Deer General Hospital, leaves a gaping hole in the lives of those who loved her. She is survived by her son Arthur Laine Benson; brothers Allan (Sheryl) and Tom (Michelle); sisters Dolores, Rose (Kelsey), and Patty; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Brenda is predeceased by her father James Arthur Benson; mother Yvette Robideau (Benson); stepfather Alf; sisters Lynn, Debbie, Donna; brothers Leroy and Larry; and nephew James and Kelsey, her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Rest in peace, dear Brenda. Your love, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held, Wednesday January 15, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie)
