Obituary For Brian Godfrey Cox

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Brian Godfrey Cox, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Grande Cache General Hospital, at the age of 79 years old.

Brian was born in Tean, Stoke-on-Trent, England, to Tom and Evelyn where he was the oldest of seven children. He was employed as a coal miner in Yorkshire, England, where he met his wife, Wendy (deceased). They had two children, and later relocated to Canada in 1971, where he continued his career as a coal miner in Alberta, and British Columbia. Brian settled down in Grande Cache, where he met Amanda, who he later married in 1999. In his leisure, he enjoyed watching sports and western films, having coffee with friends, and he never refused a glass of rum and coke. Brian had a sharp wit, a great sense of humour, loved to laugh, and brightened up a room just by entering it.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by his son Adrian (Sandra); daughter Clare (Tom); wife Amanda and her family; siblings: Dora (Ken), Stewart (Mal), Mable (Graham), Kath (Bryan), Jill (Paul), Dot (Paul), and their families who are residing in England; as well as he will be forever missed by his granddaughters: Courtney, and Brooklyn, and Ashley and Taylor.

Brian was predeceased by mother Evelyn; father Tom; brother in-law Ken; as well as niece Melanie.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 1:00pm, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, in Grande Cache (10710 98 Ave).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke of Alberta (144 5241 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 5G8).

I remember Brian and Ade watching wrestling together the two of them sitting on the couch (Brian would always be wearing his ever present grey sweat pants 😂) imitating the hits and moves of the wrestlers-almost in unison they are so much alike The chip butty sandwiches he made for lunch (not sure of the spelling) His favorite drink Rum and Coke The way he would wink at me or give me a punch on the arm whenever he would tease Adrian about something The way he talked with his English accent-we loved it We have so many memories of him - I can't even begin to write then all down He always loved us we were his family too I am so glad we were able to spend some time with him a few years ago when we came to Edmonton We will always love and miss you Grampa Brian XOXO Sand Ash Tay ❤️❤️❤️

My favorite thing about my Grandpa was anytime I called he always answered the phone by saying "hello Love". He was such a great man & literally would light up the room with his presence. We love you & miss you.
