Obituary For Bruce "Bud" Alexander Purves
Bruce “Bud” Purves, resident of Hythe, AB, passed away in Edmonton, AB, on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, after suffering from a stroke at the age of 76 years.
Bud was born on August 31, 1944, in Valhalla Centre, AB, to Jim and Edith Purves. He was the second child of a family of four and was raised in the Valhalla and Hythe area.
As a young man, Bud was employed at Nasedkin’s Meat Shop in Beaverlodge as a meat cutter. His later years were spent working as an operator in the oil and gas industry and farming. Bud and Allan farmed five quarters of land for many years. This fall, they decided to retire and rent out the land.
He had a generous heart when it came to family and friends. He loved to visit and always toured the town. He enjoyed watching hockey, curling and rodeos, and delighted in forever teasing.
Bud will forever be remembered by his siblings: Allan, Joan (Lavern) Steinke, and Betty McFadzen; as well as his niece and nephews, aunts, and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Agnes and Jack Purves; mother and father Edith and Jim Purves; special aunt and uncle Violet and Jule Jensen; and brother in-law Don McFadzen.
At Bud’s request, no formal service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
