Obituary For Bryan Coyel Rakestraw

The family of Bryan Coyel Rakestraw long-time resident of Grande Prairie, AB, are saddened to announce the sudden passing of their loving father and beloved husband on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

Bryan was born on November 17, 1965, in Atlanta, GA, and was raised there. Later he moved to Canada with the love of his life and kids to be with her family.

He was the most hardworking, loving, and caring father ever. The family will always remember all that he taught them and all the time spent together doing what he loved most, cabin trips with family and friends, fishing, walking and playing with the dog, fight nights, laughter, and just living life with his family. They will remember him for his positive outlook and unyielding love and support no matter what. His family will cherish his strength, and miss his laughter and comforting hugs.

Bryan was a woodworker, loved creating and working with his hands. He found such joy in plants, working with soil, nature, music, and was most content with his family and took great pride in caring for his wife and kids. They were the absolute light of his life.

Bryan will forever be missed by his soulmate and love of his life, KariLyn Rakestraw (nee Wardill); their two gorgeous children Brandon and Skylar Rakestraw; mother Elizabeth Stephens; mother and father in-law Lori and Delbert Lubeck; father in-law Raymond Wardill; siblings: Sally and Katie Thomasson; Brice Rakestraw; and Morgan Wardill (Shiloh Barber); as well as will be dearly loved and forever missed by all his immediate and extended family and many many friends in Alberta and Georgia.

He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents Mama2 and Dee Dee; father Merritt Rakestraw; stepmother in-law Laurie Wardill. The family hopes they are all together in heaven.

The family thanks all their family and friends for your love and support during this difficult time.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Bryan’s life will be held at a later date.
