Candice Palen, resident of Grande Cache, AB, formerly of Lannigan, SK, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in Grande Cache, at the age of 73 years.

Candice was born in Halifax, NS. She had many jobs including secretary, housewife, educational assistant for a few years, and a grandmother. She loved her dogs and baking. Candice belonged to a sorority called Beta Sigma Phi. She had an infectious laugh and was an enthusiastic hobbyist and collector. She loved watching the blue jays, going for drives and being with her grandkids.

Candice will be sadly missed by her husband Hugh Palen; her children Les Norris (Jenny), Samantha St. Jean (Myke -pronouns: they/them), and Catherine Layes (Christoffer); as well as grandchildren: Ian Norris, Alexander St. Jean, Ava St. Jean, Brooklynn Layes, Asher Layes Willa Layes.

She was predeceased by her mother Marjorie Gauthier and her father Donald Fowler.

As per Candice’s wishes, her ashes will be spread in James Bay in the summer of 2023.
