My sincerest condolences to the whole Lehr family. I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Carl. He was a wonderful and kind man who helped so many and had such a positive impact on the youth in our community. Although we fell out of touch for many years I carry the life lessons he taught me and try to "pay it forward" whenever I can. I am forever grateful and a better person for having met him. The world was better with him in it and his memory will live on on the hearts of all those he knew.

Carl Jr, Amy, and all the Lehr family, We were very saddened to hear of Carlâ??s all too early passing. Although years have passed and we havenâ??t been in contact with Carl for a long time, our good memories are plentiful. The Firebreak, the park and fishing up the A & D road. Mr. And Mrs. Lehrâ??s house was always welcoming and they always made you feel like you were a part of the family. Oh the laughs we had and the stories we could tell! To all the family our sincerest condolences! Love to everyone, Lloyd And Teenie

I miss you already Uncle Carl. You are the face of the best parts of being a "Lehr"- a contagious laugh, a zest for adventure, an eagerness to do good things, a generous heart, and a spirit too large for this world. I grew up with you as a hero. To my cousins and aunts and uncles, I love you all and I wish you strength at this time. Much love. ~Lana

Carl crossed paths with myself and my good friend Todd Russell not long after he moved back to Gambo in the mid to late nineties. I remember a guy who genuinely cared about people in general. It didn't matter who you were, where you were from, how much or how little you had. Carl greeted everyone with an out reached hand and a big ol' smile. He not only believed the youth deserved to have a safe place to hangout, he made his mission. Not only did he succeed in opening the G.C.Y.C. He also along the way had asked Todd and I for some help, (I'm sure he could have pulled it off without us, probably easier), but looking back at it, pretty sure he seen a couple teenagers with a bit of a wild side, and now I realize he knew how easily we could have ended up going down the proverbial "wrong path". To ensure we stayed on the "right path" he put us in roles we had no idea we could do, and guided us through them. Sometimes it was holding the reins all the way, but when he knew we could handle it and were lacking a bit of confidence, he picked us up and threw us in the deep end. It's exactly what we needed, taught us valuable life lessons, showed us we were good people, with something to offer and could be productive members of society. Carl also took a generation of youth in our community and truly touched their hearts, showed them by example how to be accepting to all people, of all walks of life. To work things out and forgive one another and to never ever leave anyone out. While I regret not staying in better touch with my good friend, and letting him know what he truly meant, deep down I think he knows. I just wanted your family to know what Carl meant to me, there is only a handful of men I credit with making me the person I am today, please take some comfort in knowing your loved one had such a positive impact on my life and so many others. Carl will always have a special place in my heart. I am deeply sorry for your loss, and I offer my condolences. Sincerely
