Obituary For Carol Anne Johnson
Carol Anne Johnson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the QEII Hospital at the age of 63 years.
Carol was born in Grande Prairie. The family moved to the farm north of Webster in 1966, until her high school years when Dad, Mom and Carol moved to Hay River, NWT. It was in Hay River where she first worked with Dad behind the parts counter, and she found her career calling as an automotive parts person.
Carol’s life took a few unpaved and unplanned paths over her younger years until she found the right one that led her to the love of her life, Wayne. Together, they settled in Grande Prairie, enjoying a life of working, camping and the outdoors; becoming grandparents and looking forward to retirement together. Her life circle was completed when the daughter she gave up for adoption at birth located her four years ago.
After Carol’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis three years ago, she retired with the support of Wayne, her dog Pappy and her family. In addition to being an avid reader, she took up jigsaw and word puzzles, adult colouring, and the challenges of interpreting her mom’s Scandinavian recipes.
Carol is survived by her husband Wayne; children Lori (Ken) Kokosha of Fairview, and Amy (Tim) Nash of Lantz, NS; grandchildren: Kyle, Connor and Anna Kokosha, and Caleb and Kali Nash; sister Sharon Johnson (Ed Mercier) of Saanich, BC; brother Wayne Johnson (Wanda) and his family of Grande Prairie; mother in-law Carole Johnson of Grande Prairie; father in-law Floyd M. Johnson (Linda) of Moose Jaw, SK; as well as brother in-law Ken Johnson of Edmonton, AB.
Carol was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Elsie Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
In lieu of flowers and in Carol’s memory, please consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT (102, 9823 116 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4B4).

Carol & I hung out together in Hay River in our youth. We worked together at one point before she joined her dad, Stan, at Pat's Auto Supply and learned the 'parts' business. Carol & I shared a trailer together and her dog, Spud, would make his way from her parent's place to our place often even though our homes were over a mile apart. I was her bridesmaid at her first wedding and made her wedding dress & my bridesmaid dress. After the wedding she was living in Worsley and baby Lori was born (so cute and tiny). I drove down on several occasions to visit and was there when Elvis died.. we had a big cry over that as he was her favourite singer. We hung out together when she moved back to Hay River but she ended up moving south again and I ended up moving to the Yukon. Over the years we'd get together every couple of years usually at the food court in the Prairie Mall in GP for a quick visit & meal when I was passing through on my way south or headed back up North. The last time I saw Carol was on one of these quick visits at the mall in 2000. We had a conversation at that time about her possibly finding her 2nd daughter but Carol didn't think it would likely happen. I'm so glad it did. I have so many memories of our youth together, the fun we had & the mischief we got into. Carol was a wonderful person & friend. I'm grateful to have met her and had her as part of my life. You will be missed my friend. Love & hugs and sincere condolences to all.

Eldon and I would like to extend our sincere condolances to Wayne and the rest of the family. We had the honor of having Carol work for us back in her Peace Auto Electric days. She had a heart of gold and we enjoyed the time we spent with her, always a good laugh or two. The Roys
