Obituary For Carson "Bill" William Dalgleish

William “Bill” Dalgleish, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Bill was born on September 28, 1939, in Grande Prairie, to parents Carson and Rita Dalgleish. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Beaverlodge in the Halcourt area. Bill met the love of his life, Cathy Fraser (she was the girl next door), and they were married on November 14, 1959. They started life together, raising a family on the farm and working a “multitude” of jobs to make ends meet. He started Wapiti Slashing, working in the busy oilpatch years for Canadian Hunter. His next adventure was purchasing with partners, Smitty’s Marina in Gibson, BC, running it for a few years before returning to Grande Prairie. Through the years he sold RV’s for different companies then eventually he started his own RV sales business that he ran until his retirement.

Bill was kindhearted and liked to help family and friends. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a hard worker and tried his hand at many things. As busy as Bill was, providing for his family, he always made time to spend with them. He passed along his passion and love for the outdoors which included camping, trapping, hunting and fishing.

Bill and Cathy owned many used RV’s however finally, in his retirement, they purchased a new motorhome that they enjoyed very much. Another thing that brought Bill great enjoyment was inviting friends to his trapline cabin, where he made the best pancakes.

Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years Cathy Dalgleish, sons: Lorne (Trish), Lyle (Alison), Mike (Tammie), and daughter Sharleen; grandchildren: Ashley, Aline, Shawn, Drew, Josie, Brayden, Shaylan, Ryan, Cory and Kristina; and great-grandchildren: Jackson, Felix, Dallas, Pierce, Rylan, Rowan, Brynn and Bohdi. He will also be missed by his many friends and relatives whom he shared his life with.

Bill is predeceased by his father, Carson Dalgleish, and mother, Rita Dalgleish. His father-in-law, Bill Fraser, and his mother-in-law, Chrissie Fraser, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life is to be held for Bill at a later date.

My deepest condolences! Wow! Sixty three years wed! What an accomplishment! What wonderful role models! My favourite memories of Cathy and Bill will always include a huckleberry patch. It seems we always ran in to one another "out the pass" as we searched for the elusive berries! And there was always time for a coffee in the bush as we compared bounty. It was an honour!
