Obituary For Catherine Ruth Johnson Sloan

Catherine Ruth Sloan resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Seton Jasper Healthcare Centre in Jasper, AB, at the age of 77 years.

Ruth was born on November 24, 1943, in Vancouver, BC. Her parents Ralph and Evelyn moved to Grande Prairie in 1950, and then purchased land in Bad Heart Valley, where Ruth and her two brothers, Ken and Bob attended school in Wanham, AB. Ruth excelled in sports and graduated from Fairview College. She loved animals and the environment. Ruth met Curtis, fell in love, married and had three girls.

She had a wonderful, warm personality, always thought of others before herself. She loved animals, we’re sure more than people. She had a great sense of humour especially when they were with the horses, was a fantastic baker and cook, loved her family, and always had a beautiful garden and flower beds. She loved the Rodeo especially chuckwagon races. Ruth was great with horses, a voracious reader, loved crossword puzzles, shopping for jewelry and clothes were a hobby for her as well. She worked at the QEII for 25 years and was honored to have her name on a plaque on the wall in the hospital. She is greatly missed already, the world has lost a loving and compassionate woman.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Cheryl (Edward), Linda (Paul), and Jackie; grandchildren; Darrell (Keira and Alexis), and Jacob; and great-grandchild Alexis.

She was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Evelyn; brother Ken; sons in-law Brian and Chuck.

Memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (9920 91 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0G3).
