Obituary For Charles "Charlie" Edward Case
Charlie Case, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022, after a 5 year battle with cancer, the age of 72 years.
Charlie was born in Biggar, SK, on December 10, 1949, and grew up in Strome, AB. When he was 15 years old, his family moved to Brownvale, AB, and he began his love of farming.
Charlie moved to Grande Cache, AB, in 1974, and worked as a truck driver, hauling fuel, men, and equipment and reject coal at the mine. In 1982, Charlie started at the sawmill, training, and working as reman edger operator, twin band operator, cantor operator, saw filer, benchman, and finally as a journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic. He retired in 2020, after almost 40 years as the sawmill changed from BCFP, to Fletcher Challenge, to Proctor & Gamble, to Weyerhaeuser, to Foothills Forest Products, to Dunkley.
Charlie loved camping, farming, and fixing. He volunteered with Scouts Canada as a Cub Leader, Scout Leader, and Venturer Advisor. He loved the outdoors, camping, farming, hiking, and every old museum in three provinces.
Charlie and his wife moved to Grande Prairie in 2020, to be closer to cancer treatments, only to find out he had exhausted all treatments.
Charlie was predeceased by his mother Henriette Schaff, who passed away in September of 2021.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years Lila (nee Morey); children: Matthew Case, Clay (Gina) Case, and Megan (Ruben) Hicks; his three darling grandchildren: Annamay Case, Corben Hicks, and Brayden Hicks; brother Brian (Emilie) Case; sisters Alice (Hans) Mullink, Jean Rodgers, and Mary (Russell) Starnes; many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart; as well as cousins all over the country.
Charlie will be missed by many as he walks Woody and Arlo across the heavens.

I worked with Charlie for 6 years at Foothills. Of all the people I worked with there, Charlie was one of my favourite people. He always had a smile on his, or almost always. It wasn't often that I saw Charlie get mad. He was a great man, and he will be missed dearly by everyone who had the honour of knowing him. Rest Peacefully Charlie Case
