Obituary For Charles "Chuck" Dupuis

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Dupuis, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Hinton Trail, AB. He passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years.

Chuck was born on February 22, 1932, to Joe and Mary Dupuis and raised in Elmworth, AB. In his younger years, he worked in sawmills and on the oil rigs.

In August 1955, he married Joan Ray and together they raised four children Dwain, Rae, Val, and Joe on their farm at Hinton Trail. During this time, he also owned and operated water trucks. Chuck worked hard to provide for his family and took pride in keeping his farmyard and equipment clean and tidy.

After Joan’s passing in 2021, Chuck sold the farm and moved into Prairie Lake Seniors Community in 2022.

Chuck loved fishing in the summer or winter, camping, and spending time with the family at the cabin. To pass the time, he enjoyed going for drives in the country and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in various sports.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Dwain (Julie) Dupuis and daughter, Val (Greg) Saastad. He is also mourned by his grandchildren: Tanya (Morgan) Kane, Christy Dupuis, Troy Dupuis, Damien Dupuis, Dion (Brittany) Dupuis, Ryan (Shannon) Saastad, Brandon (Randy) Saastad, Chandi (Joel) Hergott, Shondelle (Mike) Klym, Danielle (Mike) Messier, Christopher Dupuis and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Mary Todd, sister-in-law, Irene Ray, and brother-in-law, Merle Harding.

He is predeceased by his wife Joan, daughter Rae Dupuis, son Joe Dupuis, parents Mary and Joe Dupuis, parents-in-law Jack and Gladys Ray, brother Ronald Dupuis, sister Edna Tosczak, brothers-in-law Lloyd Ray, Delbert Ray, Maynard Ducharme, and Jim Todd, and sisters-in-law Lorraine Ducharme, Donna Harding, and Faye Dupuis.

We will miss his sharp wit and dry sense of humour that always had us laughing.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rebecca Sherk for her compassionate care and the staff and residents of Prairie Lake Seniors Community for their kindness and companionship. You all made a difference in Dad’s life.

Family interment will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to an organization of one’s choice.
