Left to cherish his memory are his wife Mona and her family; his daughters: Shirley (Niels) Skaksen and Clarice (Murray) Nelson; grandchildren: Lana (Mike) deBoon, Darrel (Natalie) Gunderson, Daren (Corey) Nelson, and James (Brandie) Skaksen; great-grandchildren: Brayden and Skyler deBoon, Brady and Ty Gunderson, Allie, Jordan, Jake and Amelie Nelson, Ray and Mya Skaksen; brother Talbert Velve; sisters: Lorene Benkie, Ilene (Fred) Schenk, and sister in-law, Marj Velve.
Clarence was predeceased by his first wife Marie; parents Ole and Lillie Velve; sister Evelyn Hanson; brothers: Lawrence and Kenneth Velve; son in-law Garry Gunderson; grandchildren Marilyn and Lester Gunderson; as well as many extended family members.
A Memorial Service for Clarence will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 11:00am, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grande Prairie, Alberta (9929 105 Ave.), with Pastor Dave Friesen officiating. Internment of ashes will take place at the Valhalla Centre Cemetery.

It saddens us to hear of the passing of your father, Clarence. What a wonderful spirit this man had, and a fine example of what a father, husband, and grand father should be. No matter how long our loved ones are with us in this life, it never seems long enough. There are still so many things that you want to tell him. The joyous part of course is the fact that he was with you for 97 years, what an accomplishment. Clarence always seemed to be the happiest when he was on the farm working in some capacity. His quiet demeanor and smile made him a joy to he around and spend time with. As I told him three years ago , "a lot of water has passed under the bridge", since we last spoke, but the vivid memories I spent with him will last forever. Linda and I feel your loss and wish only th best for you and your entire family. I'm sure Kelly was glad to see the family farm was in good hands being passed down to future generations, while remaining in the family. He lived a good life, one to be proud of. God Bless.

Heartfelt condolences to you in the loss of Clarence. My parents, Olaf and Signe knew Clarence and Marie. Also, Clarence worked at 214 Place, back in the eighties, when I worked for Bank of BC. He'd come by my office at times, for an enjoyable chat. It doesn't matter how old our parents are, when they pass on, their loss still leaves a void. I trust for all of you, peace, comfort and strength, from our Heavenly Father, at this time and in the time ahead. It was 13 years ago, on Dec 26, since my dad passed away and we still miss him and think how nice it would be to have a visit.
