Obituary For Clayton Charles Doll

Clayton Charles Doll, resident of the County of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer, on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 43 years.

Clayton was born on November 7, 1980, in Grande Prairie, to Charles and Eunice Doll. Clayton grew up farming as his dad’s right-hand man. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in 1998. Clayton went on to become a jack of all trades by working at jobs in home improvement road construction, landscaping, utilities, and a class 1 truck driver in the oilfield before finding his true calling in carpentry. He did all this while continuing to farm with his dad.

Clayton met his true love, Jessie, in October 2000. They were married in August 2003. The couple welcomed their son, Zander, in January 2006 followed by their daughter, Izabella, in April 2007. Clayton loved his family more than anything in the world.

Clayton was a child at heart, He loved time with his kids, being silly and chasing the kids around the house, running into walls to make them laugh as well as playing video games. He loved the outdoors, camping, quadding, snowmobiling, skiing, and hiking with his family. He enjoyed building the biggest campfires for his family to enjoy together, even if it shook his mom’s trailer.

Even though Clayton’s life was far too short, he said it was a great life, full of love, laughter, and adventure.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Jessie (nee Gorrie); children: Alexzander Doll, and Izabella Doll; parents Charles and Eunice Doll; sisters Kara Herbert and Nicole Hobbs; parents-in-law Randy and Dorothy Gorrie; brothers and sisters-in-law: Sean and Karlee Gorrie, and Mitch Herbert; niece Paige; and nephews: Josh, Lucas, Nico, and Sam.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Anita and Alf Robideau; step-grandma Yvette Robideau; Tony and Frances Doll, Jean Gorrie, Charlie Lefebvre, Alec Gorrie; as well as brother-in-law Alvin Hobbs.

The family would like to extend thanks to the Cross Cancer Institute, Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, and a special thanks to the staff at Prairie Lake Hospice, who treated us like family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 4:00 pm, at Jackpot Event Centre (10904 92 Ave.), followed by an evening of socialization.

Memorial donations may be made to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada (https://www.braintumour.ca/ways-to-give/donate-now/), or the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society (www.gpcare.ca)..
