Obituary For Clayton "Clay" Thomas Jensen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clayton Thomas Jensen at the age of 62. He left this world on Monday, April 14, 2025 with his loving children at his side.

Clay was born in Fort St John, British Columbia on December 6, 1962 to Jim and Lois Jensen. He was raised in Bear Canyon, Alberta and spent his childhood years helping out on the family farm with his four siblings. He attended classes at Bear Canyon Community School until moving on to High School in Fairview, Alberta.

Clay worked numerous jobs throughout his life. The first being a highway construction surveyor for the Alberta government, where he took great pride in having a large role in the creation of Highway 40. In 1986, he began a career at Weyerhauser in Grande Prairie and worked there for many years in several different roles. He started as a production team member and saw filer in the saw mill, eventually transitioning into the management of numerous departments. After his many years at Weyerhauser, Clay spent the rest of his working days as a technician at Finning Canada in Grande Prairie.

In his free time, Clay was always on the go. He enjoyed many hobbies and past times. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was always looking forward to his next long-haul adventure with his friends. When not riding his motorcycle, he spent nearly every free weekend he had, enjoying the outdoors. Whether it be fishing, camping, shooting guns or ATV riding, there was no place he enjoyed being more than in nature, always with his beloved dog Beau by his side. Although Clay had a great passion for many hobbies and activities, above all else his favorite moments in life were the times spent with his children.

Clay is survived and sorely missed by his loving daughter Megan (Jon) and son Quin and his siblings; Dale (Karen), Ronald (Lorna), Joan (Gary) and Vicky (Craig), as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as countless dear friends.

He is predeceased by his parents James and Lois.

A Memorial Service will not be held, as anyone who knows Clay, knows he would not want to be remembered with a sad and somber event. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Crown and Anchor Pub (8022 100 St) Grande Prairie on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 1-4 pm in order for people to share some laughs and good memories. Clay was always widely known as one of the funniest people in the room, so there is bound to be some funny stories to be told.

The world is a duller place without Clay in it. I will miss his smile, laugh, jokes, and wonderful sense of humour. Deepest sympathy to Megan & Quin. Your Dad was one of the good ones! Linda Perkins

I didn't know Clayton a long time. As a neighbour we would see each other on a regular basis, have a chat and a laugh. Condolences to his family and friends. Al MacGregor, neighbour.
