Obituary For Crystal Lee Power

Crystal Power, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on June 08, 2024, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 37 years.

Crystal was born in Fairview, AB, on May 24, 1987, and spent her younger years between Rainbow Lake, AB, and Whitecourt, AB. Crystal moved to Grande Prairie with her mom and stepfather, Diane and Darcy, in 2000, and quickly made this her home. She joined Girl Guides while in Rainbow Lake when she was seven years old, and it quickly became clear that she was in it for life. Crystal held many positions in the Girl Guides of Canada organization and was always willing to “Lend a Hand”. She loved to crochet, and it was something that you could often find her doing at every opportunity. Crystal enjoyed camping and the outdoors with family and friends. Crystal met the love of her life, Rod, and the rest was history.

Crystal will be greatly missed by her loving husband Rod of Grande Prairie, AB; children: Teddy and Toni; parents: Diane Wereley (Darcy) of Grande Prairie, AB and Norman Leger of Grande Prairie, AB; brother Morgan Wereley (Courtney) of Spirit River, AB; step-sister Maria Basnett (Dallas) of Hines Creek, AB; step-brothers: Corey Kowal (Jackie) of Grovedale, AB and Justin Kowal (Stephanie) of Hines Creek, AB; as well as nieces, nephews and many other family members.

Crystal is predeceased by stepmothers: Dain Leger and Line Leger; mother-in-law Joan Power and father-in-law Sidney Power.

A Funeral will be held for Crystal on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Jackpot Bar and Grill (10904 92 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6B5) with a luncheon to follow the service.

Memorial donations can be made to Stollery Children's Hospital at the University of Alberta Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.

Condolences

  • June 29, 2024

My deepest condolences to Diane, all of Crystal's family, and all the Guiding members in Peace River Area. Crystal had contact with so many members through her various roles, and made lasting relationships during her time in Guiding. We shared many emails and Teams calls over the last four years. I appreciated her commitment to GGC and desire to learn new things. Our emails and chats were a bright spot during that time of isolation and everything going virtual. She will be greatly missed. Sheila Morrison, GGC Alberta Council
