Obituary For Dale Granville Beauchamp
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dale Granville Beauchamp on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 69 years.
Dale was born on August 10, 1955, in Edmonton, AB to Erma and Gideon Beauchamp. Dale met the love of his life, Noël Walter in Fort Saskatchewan, AB during a summer in university while they were both working there. They were married on September 11, 1976, and enjoyed a life of love together.
He graduated from the University of Alberta from the Mechanical Engineering program with distinction in 1977. His professional career in Grande Prairie began with working on building the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital and he continued to work thereafter for what is now Alberta Health Services. At the time of his retirement, Dale was the respected, and hardworking, Alberta Health Services department lead for Facilities and Maintenance as the head engineer for the Northwest side of the province.
Noël and Dale were each other's best friends and celebrated 48 years of marriage before his passing. They were blessed with three wonderful children and eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Most of the time he could be found playing on the floor with the grandkids, involved at their level and immersed in whatever adventures they were having. He lived his happiest days with his family and friends doing the things he loved.
Dale was a master of witty humour and people naturally gravitated toward his kind and funny nature. He was always reliable and dependable, and he would be by your side if you ever needed him. While we lost our most beloved dad, spouse, and grandad; many have also lost a dear friend in him. He was a great friend who would meet you for golf no matter the tee time and was always willing to lend a listening ear and a voice of reason. He was also a cousin, brother, son, uncle, handyman, outdoorsman, avid sports lover, expert campfire maker, the list goes on and on.
Throughout his years, Dale enjoyed playing golf and baseball, watching sports, camping, spending time with his family, and fixing everything from vehicles to Halloween costumes to sports equipment. He could quite literally fix anything that needed fixing. He also loved to read. Although never a novel – rather a manual of something to be fixed, golf magazines, or official rules for a game. Most of all, he loved visiting with his grandkids and made it a priority to form a unique bond with each of them. They brought him so much joy and happiness! He never valued having possessions and his family learned early on that memories and time together were the most important things to achieve.
His wife and best friend, Noël Beauchamp; children: Brie (Dirk) Schotz, Mitchell (Kim) Beauchamp and Rebecca (Derek) Gonci; grandchildren: Berlyn Schotz, Rory Schotz, Marek Schotz, Marley Schotz, Addelyn Beauchamp, Xavier Beauchamp, Jacob Gonci and Davis Gonci; and numerous friends and family will always hold him close to their hearts and celebrate the extraordinary person he was.
A final farewell and funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11:02 am (Dale would have a good laugh and appreciate 11:02 as a golf tee time reference) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.). Luncheon in Tranquille Hall to follow from 12:00-1:30 pm.
We were all fortunate to have had him in our lives. He will forever be missed and never forgotten!
His family kindly asks that donations in Dale’s memory be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta (https://parkinsonassociation.ca/).

Noel. It is with deep sadness that I send our condolences and sympathies to you Noel and your family. I shed tears when I saw of Dale's passing, a life taken way too soon. My thoughts turned to yesteryear when we were all so young. Dale was CANA Construction Co. Ltd. Mechanical Engineering Coordinator for the construction of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie. I was the Electrical Engineering Coordinator during the construction. We shared offices in ATCO trailers, the old Grande Prairie Hospital-Emergency Department and finally an office in Mackenzie Place. Dale's Mechanical Engineering skills were exemplary. Dale had a strong resolve to solve continually different and complex construction issues. Dale was a man of high moral character and always true to his word. You could always count on Dale. Dale's office door was always open to anyone who had a construction issue or just wanted to chat. Dale's sense of humor could make one laugh at the end of a very taxing day. I remember Dale joking that unfortunately I could not multi-task after I sprained my ankle walking. He joked that, after all, I could not chew gum and walk at the same time. Only Dale could come up with a zinger like that. During that time, Dale would share the antics of young Brie, then of young Mitchell and finally of baby Rebecca. Dale's love for you Noel and his children was paramount. Dale knew how to balance his personal life with his professional life, a feat extremely hard for a young engineer. When I married it turns out that my former mother-in-law taught with Dale's Mom at Fort Elementary. She held Mrs. Beauchamp in high esteem as I have always done of Dale. When my youngest son was born I wanted his middle name to be Mitchell. I had no push back on that name when I explained the reasoning. Recently I had the chance to talk to our plumbing contractor and he smiled and laughed, remembering playing with a young Dale in the Fort as they were neighbors. Competitive but not outwardly. I always say the older we become the smaller our world becomes. It seems, the more one talks to someone there usually is a connection. My life is truly richer both professionally and personally for having had Dale in it even if it was for a few short years. Noel, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. -Lori Friede Dowling, Trenton Dowling and Austin Dowling

I remember lots of great times with Uncle Dale as a kid when the Badgers and Beauchamps would go camping at Slave Lake and skiing at Jasper. In more recent years I enjoyed many golf games with Uncle Dale. He was competitive without showing it and usually beat me. One of my best memories is a golf trip to Arizona with Uncle Dale, Mitchell, Don Badger and myself. Happy memories for sure.

Memory from Don Badger. Dale and I were new to the Walter family through Marriage. Mr. Walter presented each of us with a brand new 24 Gauge Shotgun . That was his welcome to the family and to also let us know that Thanksgiving was totally devoted to the big hunt and we needed to be sure we were there to participate. We quickly learned that Thanksgiving weekend was hunting time. It was a family tradition for many decades and continues to this day.All the men headed to Paradise Valley for the big hunt. All the other men in the family stayed in motels in Lloydminster and drove out in the wee hours of the morning, however Dale and I chose to camp out at the Walter Farm near Paradise Valley . Even though we were both inexperienced hunters, we followed the usual protocol up in the dark to sit near a pond and or in a wheat field waiting for the birds to arrive at the crack of dawn. It was damp and cold as usual and we didn't really have the proper hunting gear like the other ones had we had bits and pieces. We gave it our best shot so to speak! While the other ones drove around during the day looking for other good hunting spots. We went back to the farm to our tents because we had been early.. We just thought we'd have a little afternoon nap before the night hunt. While we were having our little nap a flock of geese landed about 20 feet from our tent. The geese of course woke us up. We jumped up scrambled out the tent, realized our guns were in the truck and that's the end of the story. When the real hunters returned and heard our story we became the brunt of many jokes over the years about that missed Opportunity. The Beauchamp's and the Badgers did a lot of things together, camping, skiing, and taking part in the many Walter family celebrations. You will surely be missed Dale. My sincere sympathy to Noel and family. Thinking of you at this very sad time. Rest in peace Dale. Don Badger your brother in law and partner in many fun adventures.

To Noël, Brie, Mitchell, Rebecca, and families, I extend my deepest condolences for your loss. Dale was an extraordinary human whom we all were so lucky to know. He was liked by all who worked with him and shared his brilliance and skill where required, no matter how busy he was. I hope the greens are great in heaven, Dale.
