Obituary For Danny Robert Greene

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved husband, dad, and papa, Danny Robert Greene. He left us on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Grande Prairie, AB, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Danny was born on November 21, 1950, in Princeton, BC, to Robert and Kay Greene. Sadly, his father passed away in a logging accident shortly after his birth. He grew up alongside his brother, Gary, and sister, Kathy, living in Fruitvale and Penticton, BC. A few years later, the family moved to Provost, Alberta, then to Camrose and Leduc before eventually settling back in Camrose. After Kay married Ron Larson, their family grew to include Michael, Sheldon, and Sonja.

After high school, Danny explored a variety of careers—working at service stations, selling stereos and appliances, driving trucks, and later earning his crane operator and welding tickets. He was never afraid of hard work and always up for a challenge.

In 1977, he married the love of his life, Melinda (Mel), and together they built a life full of love and adventure while raising their two children, Alana and Nolan. In 1989, Danny and Mel made the move to Grande Prairie, where Danny worked for Risley for many years and later for Kaymor.

Danny loved the outdoors, and camping was his happy place. Summer weekends were spent around the campfire with family and friends, sharing laughs and making memories. Whether exploring Alberta, BC, Idaho, or Washington, he always found joy in hitting the road. Winters often brought escapes to warmer places, creating even more cherished memories.

More than anything, Danny loved his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones, especially his grandkids, who brought him endless pride and joy.

Danny will be deeply missed by his wife, Mel; his daughter, Alana (Jeff) Sieben; his son, Nolan (Sabrel Binks); and his grandchildren, Tristan and Sabella Sieben. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathy Charalambidies, Gary Greene (Evelyne), Michael Larson (Melissa), Sheldon Larson, and Sonja Barabash (Dave), his brother-in-law, Ron Hindman, and his sister-in-law, Gloria Hindman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert Greene, his mother, Kay Larson, his stepfather, Ron Larson, his brother-in-law, Peter Charalambidies, his sister-in-law, Lori Spencer-Larson, and his parents-in-law, Adam and Myrtle Klusa.

Danny’s kindness, humor, and love will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

We will be celebrating Danny’s life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Clarkson Hall at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, AB. The celebration can be viewed via live-stream at the following link- https://youtube.com/live/XIOP_vSA1-A?feature=share

I am very sad and sorry for the loss of Danny and my condolences to his family.Danny lived in Camrose when I first met him and he used to come out to our farm during summer holidays or weekends to help my dad working on the farm he was one of the nicest people I ever knew. I'm sorry that we lost touch over the years and I finally saw him on Facebook and reached out to him but he was going through cancer treatment and just wasn't up to talking right then I'm so sorry that I hadn't found him earlier.
