Obituary For Darlene "Lynn" Folstrom (nee Bjorgan)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynn Folstrom, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 66 years, just prior to her birthday.

Lynn was the middle child born to Eileen and Willard Bjorgan on November 19, 1956, in the Beaverlodge Hospital. She had two older siblings, Gordon and Deanna; and two younger siblings Ron and Sandy. Her family had just moved from southern Alberta to reside in Wembley, but shortly after Lynn’s birth the family relocated to Wanham, where the family remained for 20 years before moving to Grande Prairie in the late 1970’s.

As a young adult Lynn obtained her Hairdressing Certificate in Grande Prairie, and enjoyed this career for a number of years, until she found that her love of cooking won over. At this time, she became a First Cook in oilfield camps where she spent numerous years working, meeting and befriending many people along the way.

In 1985 Lynn was blessed with her first born, her daughter Chelsea. Followed in 1989 with the birth of her son Cameron. Lynn loved her children above all else, she adored them and was so proud of the adults they grew to be. In 2016, Chelsea made Lynn a grandma with her only grandchild Ryder, whom she loved and adored.

Lynn always worked hard, but she always put family first. She loved and cared deeply for us all. She enjoyed family picnics at Dunvegan, camping, fishing, and at any family get togethers, you could count Lynn in. She also enjoyed garage sales, traveling, and she made the most beautiful wreaths which she shared giving to all.

She leaves to mourn: her daughter Chelsea, grandson Ryder, and son Cameron; siblings: Deanna (Elmer) Munroe; Ron (Tammy) Bjorgan; and Sandy Bjorgan; numerous nieces and nephews: Colin (Sherry) Gatzke; Ken Bjorgan; Roxanne (Rob) Myer; Darcy Bjorgan; Kelly (Eric) Hardy; Jamie Bjorgan (her daughters Jade and Jordan Swanson); Brandon Bjorgan (his daughter Dallis Bjorgan); and a continually growing family of great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins who were as close as siblings to Lynn; her Aunt Norma and Uncle Dave Mackenzie, and a long list of friends who will miss her dearly.

Lynn was predeceased by her parents Eileen and Willard Bjorgan, her older brother Gordon Bjorgan, and niece Jennifer Gatzke.

Lynn beat a round of cancer in 2019, unfortunately, the cancer returned, and she didn’t win this round. She fought hard and is our hero because of her will to live. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date, with her final resting place to be the Sundre Cemetery.
