Obituary For Darrell Allen McDonald

Darrell Allen McDonald, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 48 years.

Darrell was born in Manning, AB, on July 4, 1972, and was a lifelong resident of Grande Prairie. He attended the Grande Prairie Composite High School, went to Grouard College for carpentry in Grouard, AB, and worked for Grande Prairie Forestry as a Crew Boss. He also did commercial and industrial construction. Later in Darrell’s life, he found a love for art and started painting. He had many lifelong friends in Grande Prairie.

Darrell will be sadly missed by his son Delsin (Faith) McDonald; daughter Kristen McDonald; grandchildren: Adrik Badger, Octavia McDonald, Amiyah McDonald, and Brynlee McDonald; sisters Mayann (Andre) Ritchie, and Bernadette Ferguson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Darrell was predeceased by his father Malcolm McDonald; mother Irene McDonald; step-father Brien Morin; brother Clayton McDonald; sister Wendy McDonald; nephew Chad McDonald; grandparents: Bill and Annie McDonald, Larone and Helen Ferguson.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). A livestream of the service will be available on Darrell's obituary on Oliver's website.

Interment will follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. and 112th St.).

    I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Darrell was always a fiery enigma, can still remember the way his eyes would twinkle and you knew he was thinking on a whole different level from the rest of us. They would flash with anger at any injustice, and other times gleam with a joy you could feel... I am so so so sorry. 😢
