Obituary For David A. Thomson

Sadly, our father, Dave Thomson, passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the age of 90 years. It is comforting to know that he is with his Lord and Savior.

Dave was born in Namaka, AB on May 12, 1926, and came to the area in 1929 by horse and wagon. The family purchased land west of Clairmont where they lived and worked their entire lives. In 1952, he married Dorothy Morken and together they raised 5 children.

Dave will be remembered mostly for his family values, work ethic, faith in God, and his gentle nature.

After Dorothy passed away in 2008, a large part of him was gone forever, but he lived a reasonably happy and healthy life, thanks to the awesome caregivers at Heritage Lodge.

Dave leaves to mourn his passing his sons and their families: Neil Thomson of Edmonton, Ken (Colleen) Thomson of Grande Prairie, Gerald (Kathie) Thomson of Tappen, BC, James Thomson of Clairmont; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, daughter Ruthann, grandson Christopher, brother Donald, and his parents David and Claire.

He will be sadly missed.

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 1:30pm, at Clairmont United Church (100 Ave.).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
