David Anton Huls, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sexsmith, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 72 years.

David was born on May 15, 1948, in Hudson Bay, SK, to Nick and Dwean Huls. He was the youngest brother to Albert, Hertha and Annette. Later in life, he moved and settled in Fort St. John, BC, where he met and married his soulmate Donna Huls in 1970. David and Donna moved to Sexsmith, where they had three children, Hetti in 1972, Niki in 1973 and David Jr. in 1977. He worked as a truck driver, golf course attendant, plywood mill operator and in oilfield-related work.

He was a get-up-and-go kind of person. He was known for dropping everything he was doing to help his family and friends with anything they needed. Most would describe David as friendly, easygoing, helpful, thoughtful, quick-witted and sassy.

He had a love for many things such as camping, golfing, road trips, hanging out with his grandkids, coffee at Majors with friends, lunches with Niki, pedicures with Hetti and bike trips with David Jr.

David will be sadly missed by his three children: Hetti (Derek), Niki (Dan) Morrison and David Jr. (Richelle) Huls; grandchildren: Jesse (Ashley), Chase (Broghan), Hailey, Dell, Jennifer, Ashley, David, Megan, Holly and Emma; great-grandchildren: Kaysen, Parker and Anthony; as well as numerous close friends.

He was predeceased by his niece Angie in 1980; parents in 1987; father in-law Robert in 1991; loving wife Donna in 1994; grandson Brandon and brother in-law Keith in 2006; sister Annette in 2008; mother in-law Henrietta in 2011; and brother in-law Bob in 2017.

A Viewing will be held on February 27, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 1L8).

A Funeral Service will be held on July 11, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Spirit River Cemetery.
