Obituary For David Kenneth Batchelor

David Kenneth Batchelor, resident of Keg River, AB, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 66 years.

David was born in Calgary, AB, on December 28, 1954. He was raised on a homestead in Keg River, where he grew up and went to school. David had three sisters: Shirley, Irene and Alice. He was the best brother that his sisters could have wished for. He married Doreen Mary Cardinal on September 27, 1982, in Peace River, AB.

Growing up, David was always there to help with whatever he could. He loved his mom and dad very much. He was a very hard worker, and in his younger years, he worked in the Arctic. He bought a homestead in Keg River in 1974, where he and his wife Doreen built a beautiful home. They raised 2 strong sons, who married the most supportive daughters in-law.

David owned his own trucks working in the oilfield patch. He and his wife also owned a mowing business, contracting for Alberta Highway and La Prairie Group, where he employed numerous people.

His love of his Black Angus cattle was well known, as he had some of the top stock in the Peace Country. David and Doreen sold their farm in 2018 and moved to the 40 acres where they resided, and this was the retirement place. David bought 12 head of cattle, as he could not go without seeing cattle on the 40 acres. He sold them before his scheduled appointment for back surgery.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Doreen Batchelor; children: Lenny (Wendy) Batchelor and Clinton (Melanie) Batchelor; grandchildren: Layton, Layne, Leland, Liam, Leya, Linnea and Ledger Batchelor, and Alex Hammond; sisters Irene (Gordon) Blasko and Alice Tkachuk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

David was predeceased by his father Kenneth Batchelor; mother Rose Batchelor (nee Radkey); and sister Shirley.
